How about a random button like on the wiki and HR.com?

You know, for those times when you want to post but can't find anything. Then just hit random and unearth some old, forgotten, but still awesome thread.

I'd like it.

I doubt such a thing exists...and it's unneeded. The odds of you finding an awesome topic buried within the forum are very slim.

Especially since many topics are in the Spam Vault. And any attempt to exclude this from the randomizer would most likely fail.

I know it doesn't exist. This is a thread in the SUGGESTIONS section. I still think it would be awesome, plus you could find out what people were talking about before you were on the forum, if you're newer.

Just like excluding topics from the spam vault while searching fails? It wouldn't be that hard.

I think it would be pointless, but kind of cool, I guess.

He doesn't have to muck around with any database junk. I think he's setting a random variable (0 through 11500) and makes the page redirect to http://forum.hrwiki.org/viewtopic.php?t=VARIABLE. He forgot to add a 0, I guess.

The forum is run on PHPbb with absolutely no add ons. (with the exception of the subSilver modification) Such add-ones would slow the forum down even more, and we don't want that. For the Wiki, that be a great idea.

Actually, there are a couple of small mods (or are they called addons now?): 'Custom BB Styles', 'Simply Merge It', that strikethrough style thing, that thing that lets you stop post count increments in certain forums, and maybe a couple others. You don't really need an mod to make a simple random button, you just can't do much with it.
