This is annoying - when somebody is searching through threads that haven't been touched for three years to add some comment that would have been welcome three years ago.

I don't think it should be a bann-able offense but it should merit some sort of warning or "don't do that 'k"

Make a notice of it in the rules plz?

Well, it's usually a difficukt decision, whether it's worthy to resurect or not. Usually us mods and admins go on a "each case" trial.

It's not exactly a bannable offense, unless you keep doing it, spamming up the place.

If it's done simply for the sake of necromancy, then it's spam. But if it's a relevant post contributing to the discussion, then I don't see what's wrong with it.

It seems that people get mad no matter how someone tries to discuss an existing topic. If you bump the thread, people get mad. If you make a new thread, people get mad. If we already don't allow duplicate threads to be created, disallowing bumps as well would pretty much say no topic can be discussed twice - ever. Bumps are fine as long as the bumping post adds to the topic.

Quoted for truth..

This pretty much sums up the modmin staff's approach to bringing up old topics.

If you're bringing up an old thread and adding to the discussion, there's nothing wrong with it. If you're not, well, then there's already a rule against that, since it's spam.

I think what he means is that we need to let newer people to know that unimportant bumping is not allowed, by putting it in the rules or something.

Any unimportant post is spam. I suppose we're a bit more lenient in active topics - ie, making a comeback for some joke posted three years ago isn't a great idea - but that type of situation doesn't occur often enough that we've bothered to worry about it.

As long as it contributes to the game, I guess it's OK.
