Is there any way avatars etc. could be locked in those kinds of games? Like, even if you change your avatar, it stays the same in that thread? 'Cause a lot of the time the comments don't make sense.

Basically what he said. You can't lock an avatar to a specific thread or post. Not in any php mods that I've seen.

You could always post your current avatar along with your post...

Yeah, that would be the best way to do it, but I think it would only work if you hotlink your avatar. If you upload your avatar here to the forum and then change it, the old one gets deleted from the server and it won't show up anymore.

I was actually thinking about this yesterday. As other have said, the only real method seems to be adding the hotlink for images (avatars and signatures) to your post from a place like TinyPic or Imageshack, or just copy+pasting the location along with your post.

It'll require extra work, and I doubt that a lot of members will take the time to do it, but maybe those games will evolve in the future to make it a regular part of them.

I have seen a solution to this in another forum:
When the signatures there are changed, the sig. from old posts still is the old sig, but any post made after the sig. is changed uses the new sig.

But after saying that, I think this would only be a good thing in that specific game, otherwise it would be annoying to see one user with a hundred different signatures around the forum.

I don't think it's possible to stop them from changing, especially if you jsut want that for one thread.
