7/10. It seems to have deteriorated the past several months. Ever since the upgrade.

The upgrade. That's it!

How exactly does the upgrade effect the feel of the forum?

The cooler colors that the Forum now has allow you to feel more relaxed and mellow, therefore making you care less about how the Forum is running. It'll then deteriorate.

Or something.

I guess that sorta makes sense.

To me the forum feels kinda like it did when clan what around and none of the admins were, which is weird, because he's not, and we've got a brazilian modmins floating in and out. I dunno, the feel is the same. We've got a lot of community spirit as we did then, but there's a lot of completely senseless negativity that was around as was then too. I think the former is really great, and the latter is really awful. it's the sort of thing that lead to the exodus, and I don't want that to happen again if I can help it.

Also, there's the general consensus that creativity's down, and I'm not really surprised, although I'm still disappointed. We had so much happening that everyone came to expect it being provided to them, however eventually people left, got busy, or forgot about their projects (myself included) and so it all died out. Now we have two ongoing forum games that few people see, minimal forumfics, no sign pics, no forum sketches, and very few innovative threads. People are fussing about the forum awards instead of taking them lightly and funly as they should be. Again, I want to do what I can to help this out, but it's not something I can force on everyone, obviously. I'll do my part to stir things up if everyone else does.

With this all being said, this forum is neither serious business nor the lack of serious business. It mirrors real life in that it's an odd mix of both, with a time and a place for all and the same. I want to see people having fun, but I don't want to see anyone kicked out/leaving because of some stupid/petty reason, the worst of which is boredom. We can do better than this folks. Be daring! Be weird! Be fun! But at the same time, not excessively so, because that's how clan got started. All things in moderation, including this phrase =p

Well, I'm going to back up my talk by screwing with ramrods posts some more. Other mods feel free to join me. :)

[Oh yeah, I said 7/10]

Well, Ido, I am putting forum cameo appearances in my comic. Maybe I can upload a page of the full "cast".

-Alberto (As a black Russian. What else?)
-Jello (gets killed)
-Mandy (Herself)
-Didymus (Some guy with priest collar)
-Ian (Wearing most geckosuit)
-Inverso (I believe he fell off the ride into the sweet bliss of death, but that's why we have uncontinuity!)

Now, I only really have shown Alberto and Jello. SHould I change the rest or leave it?

Second. Also, I agree with Captains post, but the lack of spontaneity is due not only to users who did all of that leaving, but also of the fact that we're afraid.

We're afraid that something we do will be epic fail or epic win, and we don't want to make a move thats fail. Second, we're afraid that if something we post is a little over the edge, we'll either get scolded and then that'll start some crap and yadda yadda someone gets banned. While yes, everything is good in moderation, theres not a clear set of the Do's and Dont's when it comes to spontaneity.

Remember when we did The Wall? That was something different, it brought alot of people together for a common share of Win, and showed just what we were capable of in terms of spontaneity. Remember pwnday? That was a slap in the face, but it was Win, and it was acceptable, and the best part, the mods and Admins were in on it, it was something that the Admins and Teff did, and not only was it epic, it strengthened the relationship of the regulars and brought us all together and showed us what the heck was wrong with all of teh Drama.

Of course, now there is no drama, (Or at least, not as much as it used to be), but that doesn't mean the Admins or any group of users can't assemble and do something epic in order to get us to stop Drama. Just do it for the Lulz, not the Drama.

Yeah. Only problem right now is that everything's boring.

You're all being so depressing. I thought the forum was doing alright at the moment.
It could do with more interesting discussion in R&P, and in off-subject for that matter, but it isn't that bad.
I wish I was here for the legendary summer of '05.

As COLA said, spontaneity, even since I arrived here in October, has slowed down due to fear regarding whether something is fail or win. But I think that comes from the attitudes of users towards each other. They've seen what happens when somebody "fails," and they don't wanna become a victim of that. And that truly is a problem.

You know what? People shouldn't be nervous about doing, saying, etc, anything. Just do it. If it sucks, yeah, you'll catch some crap from people like me, but what you guys need to learn to do is take that stuff like something besides a three year old. If I say something like, "Go away", instead of going "That's very stupid. I'm not going anywhere. (etc)", say "Okay, where do I go?". Take it with stride and be cool about it. People will like you and what you do a lot more. And if it's good, you'll know it is.

7.5/10.

It was amazingly awesome, then slipped, then picked up again, slipped again, and now I think it's picking back up again.

You know, I think the forum would improve if some members learned a thing called subtlety.
Also they should not make a blatant and often stupid-sounding remark when other users don't respond to their subtle comments.

Yes, everyone does understand when you try making a subtle insult, they may just choose not to reply. These users don't always have to make it bleeding obvious.

You might want to put your name on that list and take Mookoo off.
