I'm thinking of a 404 page for the wiki. How about:

Code:
FLAGRANT SERVER ERROR
Page Over.
Missing = Very Yes.

that is cool. Make it look like the lappy or the compy or tandy.

Or the BSOD. either one really. they all fit.

YEAH! Let's replace "There is currently no text on this page" with that!

I like it. It would be really good to remove the line that says main, toons, games, etc.. and put something more 404 descriptivy, with a link to the main page.

Er... we can't do this for a page in the Wiki without a name yet. That's just how the software works.

I'm thinking that everyone here is talking about a page like this: http://hrwiki.org/404

I'll see what I can do with our .htaccess file later tonight.

this stupid thing called "internet optimizer" replaces the 404 page! (it does that same thing on homestarrunner.com)

Tom was right on. You just change the .htaccess file to change what page you want to be the 404'd page. I doubt if homestarrunner.com uses Internet Optimizer. Google Please

the internet optimizer is a thing the programed itself to my computer and every time I go to a 404, it replaces it with a page called internet optimizer. how do I stop it from doing that

Uninstall it. Check the Windows Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel for "Active Alert" and/or "Internet Optimizer." Remove both. If only the latter is there, it apparently has no effect. I dunno if Spybot catches it, but it's worth a try.

Okay, we've got it.

Have a look.

ok, I removed it but it still does it!

EDIT: I did a spyware scan and got rid of it! the 404 page is great!!

Why not? It's definitely better than the apache default page.

Most people here will get it. Even if they don't, it's not the end of the world.

I know this thread is a month old, but I just got here. I think it would be really cool if we could somehow use the System Is Down page to tell people there is an error, and simply just transport them back to the main Wiki page.

As it is now, the System Is Down page simply sends you back to the hr.com toon page.

Two things:

1. The Bros. Chaps may not be too happy about us using their productions without permission, though that could be answered with an email to them

2. The code in BBCode (the coding system used in the phpBB forums) for a hotlink is this:
Code:
[url=http://www.thisisacoolwebsite.w00t]Cool website[/url]

hehe, I find that part really funny considering we rip the entire hr. com website and put it on the wiki here.

My bad, I know this but I never bothered to check to see if HTML was allowed in the forums, sorry. Hehe, I edited my post.

We rip H*R? You mean by archiving the MP3s? Or by taking screenshots of the toons? Or by transcribing the toons?

Please explain.

yes, exactly. all of the above. hey man, I love H*R and I think this is a great place for the fans of it. I just found it funny, I'm not saying that I don't agree with us asking TBC to use that page, or somehow getting it to redirect back to the wiki homepage, I just found what he wrote funny.
