If it were a serious threat, that would mean that many many forums are in danger. If that were true, then we probably would have heard about this from other sources a little while ago.

I read a few articles about a virus that is spreading that attacks computers running phpBB versions older than 2.0.11. http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=130471 http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=240636 http://secunia.com/advisories/13239 I was just curious if there were plans to upgrade, and if so, when that might occur? *for clarification* This virus won't hurt or do anything at all to clients. In other words, even if this site got the virus, it wouldn't do anything to anybody here's computers. It just breaks the website. |

Upgrading phpBB is a hassle. From what I've seen, this forum has been tweaked in many different ways, but it's really up to the mods. |

The virus was only discovered today, so I suppose that it isn't yet too prevalent, but as of 3 hours ago, it had attacked at least 38,000 bulletin boards. That's another reason that the virus isn't terribly widespread or wellknown. It only attacks phpBB, not your everyday joe office running outlook express. |
