Face it, the world isn't really a nice place. Maybe 70 or 50% of all people are arrogant enough to start new threads to post their introductions, as we've seen a million times and at that almost on a daily basis. And they're all too ignorant to notice the introduction thread, which is "only" 10 pages long. (I would think it's more, to be honest; 10 seems sort of little if you account for replies to introductions) But when you get in, you have to look at the forums to know where you're going, while sticky threads draw less attention. Just above the "getting to know you" forum maybe it's worth a try to put a forum that is purely for introductions, captioned "introduce yourself here", and the getting to know you forum would be for more in-depth knowledge about fellow users. And while out of a hundred intro threads one is insignificant, I guess the people who started the threads could feel a little special. of course sometimes you got recurring questions that come up in new threads but are APB'ed. Maybe the most common of the questions that are major threads could be stickied. Like fav SBEmail, Peasant's Quest, etc. Just a thought. |

So I didn't have the same problem on my forum as here, I created an "Introductions" category. Thats what we could do here, and then have the "Introduce Yourself" thread in the "Introductions" category. (On my forum you start a new thread to introduce yourself because I barely get any visitors so there aren't many threads in the Introductions category, but on this forum, it should all be in one thread and the one thread in the one category because of too many users.) |
