Now in pms, we can only send a pm to one person at a time (To my knowledge). It would be very helpful if we could send the same pm to more than one person at a time. I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement this, but I know a lot of people would benefit from it. What do you guys thinlk?

(If this is already possible, I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me how to do it. Thanks)

While there have definitely been times when it would have been convenient to send out a PM to multiple parties, I'm not sure this is a functionality we really need, only because it will make it easy to spam lots of people at once.

At any rate, it's not possible with our setup. There might be a mod(ification) out there that will do it, but I think we'd be hard-pressed to install it unless someone could argue that there's a real need for it.

Well, maybe if there was a mod so that administrators and moderators could use it, to PM multiple people notices, private notices. Though there wouldn't be much of a use for it, since there aren't usually groups of large notices sent out. And that wouldn't really help you that much... >_>

It would be usefull in forum games, when you need to send PMs to the players. Also, if a troll hits, it would be easier to send a message to all the admins/mods.

But I think there will be more bad than good uses for this...

What if we asked admins/mods if we could use it? Like, if we had a forum game we could PM them and say, "Can I use the multiple recipents mod for my forum game? <Link to game>" And if they thought it would be of good use, they would let you?

Y'know, there have been times when I think this might be a nifty feature to have, like, say, when I go on my sig-size-enforcing rampages. But all I do is save the form letter on my compy and paste it in when I need to. It's not that much of a hassle. If the admins are open to finding such a mod, that'd be great, but I think we can manage without it.

There is one case I could think of that this would be most useful: if there's a troll, and the members want to inform us mods and admins. That way, we can all be aware of what's going on and, as much as we can, help to put a stop to it.

Other than that, I really don't like the idea. Someone could use that to spam people's inboxes, and that just wouldn't be cool.

This is true, but isn't that what the ban function is for? They can also easily spam up the whole forum, but we'll just ban them and delete the posts. Trolls are gonna try and gunk up any fun we have, but like I said, we just have to be diligent and set them up the ban.

I personally think it's a pretty snazzy idea...I dunno how many times I've needed to send PMs as an Admin to multiple people and have had to take the time to send 4 or 5 separate messages.

There's my vote.

To aviod massive spamination, make it so you can only send a pm every 90 seconds. That would help more than it seems it would. No troll wants to spend a half hour to send 20 pms. That's just not worth the trouble And I agree with AgentSeethroo, a troll spamming nup your inbox isn't too much worse than a troll spamming the forum. What if we have a max of 5 or 6 recipients?

Uh, it wouldn't take half an hour to send 20 pms - a troll would just send one or two spam messages to a hundred users, and it would be very annoying.

It'd take 30 minutes to send 100+ people 20 messages, which isn't actually that bad, since it's spread out so much. So you've got 20 messages, just delete them.

I'd be pretty mad. When I see 'You have new messages', I want messages, but if this were enabled 90% of it would be spam.

You really think trolls would strike that often? I highly doubt it.

Well, we live in a world of robots, so yeah, maybe...
