When threads get locked in the spam vult, a shadow of the topic is left behind. And REALLY bad topics(like those rocket man threads) that contain spam shouldn't be on the thread. Please, when you move topics, don't leave a shadow of it. |

What does it matter? Even if there wasn't a shadow of the topic they could still see it. But I do kind of agree it makes things look a little untidy. |

Spam that is obviously intentional seems to be moved without leaving a shadow, as to not clog up the forum. Topics that are locked because they've already been posted or have gone south usually leave a shwdow behind as to alert the creator and users who frequent the thread. There is occasionaly an exception, sometimes a mod or admin forgets to or not to leave a shadow, but that's how it works most of the time, it appears. |

Unfortunately, that's a feature of phpBB. Whenever a topic is moved, a redirect link is placed there. I suppose a mod could be written to remove redirects to anything in the spam vault, but why bother? It's not like it happens often enough to warrant one. |

Er, actually when a topic is moved there's an option whether or not to leave a shadow. And yes, strongfan, the mods know when to use it and when not to use it. |

O rly? Hmm, having never been in a position of authority on a phpBB-powered forum, I wouldn't know that.

Yeah, as IJ said, there is an option to remove the shadow. I'll usually leave it there, so long as the topic isn't offensive, just to let the creator know what happened to the thread, and also to serve as an example. "Don't make a stoopid thread like this, or it'll just be locked!" Keep in mind, also, that when a big bad troll shows up, most of the time their account is banned and deleted, meaning that all of their posts are subsequently deleted. So you shouldn't be able to see any of the real bad stuff anyway, thanks to those oh-so-handsome admins of ours. Hey, where's the female representation there, anyway?

![]() Finally, a Hilary worth voting for!! Is there anyway we could default it to not "leave shadow topic in old forum"? |

I'm pretty sure that's the default when merging, so I don't see why it couldn't be done. Not by me, however. That's my platform. Or something. |
