Maybe if you're still trying to figure it out you could take a lurk on FFC and see what it's really like instead of me trying to explain it to you.

I'm not a closed-minded person, but everyone has their prejudices. I'm willing to listen to every side of a story, though.

Which is great! That's awesome of you! I think people just worry about it when you tend to, you know, fixate...

I said I'm willing to listen, not immerse myself, Ian.

Just as a side note, have you seen this?

Teefee, I'm not fixated, but I DO need some clarification. I still want my question answered.

That article came out last summer. It's old news. I still think it's funny that we beat out both Second Life (which has TONS weirder furries than FFC) and /b/.

Being a furry at its core means being a fan of anthropomorphic animals in art, literature, and gaming. While there is perversion in the fandom (as there is in every fandom) there are furries who stick to clean art and those who use their talents to glorify God. What we're trying to do on FFC is to show that you can do exactly that. Some of us love fursuiters; others abhor them. Some like to draw while others like to RP and chat and stuff.

I know all that, but my point is, WHY? What about it do you find rewarding?

And please try to answer my other question, that's the answer I really want to hear.

Also, I think you beat out Second Life because of the Christian angle, which leads to tough questions like the one I asked.

Nope, don't think so. Those guys are furries that enjoy simulated virtual intercourse. You guys are Furrs fur Christ. Big difference.

I can't really explain why, Jitka; it's the same reason someone would say they're a fan of anything else. Some people just like anthro animal characters.

Fair enough. I really can't say I have any comparable interests that I could use to understand. I mean, I'm a gamer-type, but I could tell you why I play video games. I enjoy the challenge.

Also, I'd still like to know what you have to say about my other question.

I'm not even saying dressing up as an animal is wrong, however horrible I may personally think it is. I just am wondering how people like Ian and the rest of that FFC thing can reconcile pretending to be animals with the belief that they were made in God's image. Hang gliding, scuba diving, none of that is the same, because those things enable us to do more with what we've already been given. But if I were God, I would be annoyed that my people were not happy with what I'd given them. I just want to know how the two can mix.

Pretending to be an animal and believing that I'm an animal are two different things. It's like LARPing or acting in a play; I'm portraying Macbeth on stage, but in real life I don't go out stabbing my superior with my wife and later regretting it. Same with furry; I like to RP about being a gecko man, but in my mind I know that I'm a human and accept that.

Is there a point to this, or are you just being a jerk for the sake of being one?

The point is to make Jello leave because he's banned, and no action as of yet has been taken on by the administration.

Furries ≠ good
Furries ≠ bad
People who constantly talk about furries = bad

So there.

EDIT: Looking at some of the previous posts, I realized that I thought furries were fuzzy creatures and not people that are obsessed with fuzzy creatures. So furries = bad.

Yeah, my stance on the whole matter is sorta like what Ian recently said.

The people at FFC, from what I gather, are the good kind of furs, because they realize and are fully aware that they are not, in fact kitties and doggies prancing freely in the woods, but are rational human beings.

Most of the rest of the perceived fur population is more along the lines of "would rather have unlawful relations with a beaver" sort of affair side of pretending to be an animal, and those are, just statistically saying, what most non-furs will run across and associate with the idea of being a fur.

And for the record, the Cracked article missed the whole point. They focused on the kid's former problems and completely ignored the fact that the kid realized that they were problems, sought help, solved the problems, and moved on with his life.

That still doesn't answer my question, really. I know that you understand you're not really a gecko, but dressing like one or roleplaying as one tends to indicate that you wish you were one, instead of being the human being that God created in his own image, according to your own beliefs. Isn't this a rejection of God's designs? If so, how do you justify it? If not, why not?

See, Inverse is the good kind of furry, the one who doesn't really care, and who you couldn't really call a furry unless you looked hard enough. I'm 70% sure he doesn't own a tiger suit.

In comparison, I say I'm a Ninja Pirate Cowboy but in reality, I'm just a student who knows a bit about Karate.

Not all furries think that they're in the wrong body or are pervs, that's just another corrupted stereotype.
