Alright, I was gaping at the awesomeness of the VW slash ad when it occurred to me: VW had had some pretty memorable TV ads this year. The Rabbit ad was fun, the Jetta ads were hilarious (made moreso since I have a German friend and I like telling him "German Engineering in da House"), and .. well, Slash and Nigel Tufnel rules. Of course, this doesn't convince me to go out and get a VW. It's just not my style (I've always been a Dodge/Chrysler man). But the commercials are genuinely entertaining. So what is your favorite recent VW ad? |

I love the "Unpimp ze auto" ads, and the Slash and Nigel Tufnel ads. Haven't seen the John Mayer ones. BTW, the "German Engineer" is Peter Stormare. You may know him from The Big Lebowski, 8mm or, perhaps my favorite role, The wacky cosmonaut from Armageddon. One of the best movie convos ever: Affleck: "Ever hear of Evil Knievel" Stormare: "No, I never saw Star Wars" |

I've seen them all, but I think the Jon Mayer one is the most entertaining. |

I loved the unpimp my ride themed ones (The trebuchet one was cool). But the Slash one was good. I saw it the first time, and I was like, "Holy crap it's Slash!" and nobody in my family knew who he was (They know nothing of music. Actually my parents do, but I digress). I haven't seen the John Mayer one though. |

Unpimp zee auto, jah. I'm sorry, those just get me good. Which company had the "least ego emissions" ones? |

XDKinda... but it's from a Volkswagen commercial from about 17 years ago, so you can be forgiven. It was quite the fad way back in the day, so I guess it's proof that VW has always had a knack for memorable commercials.
Here's the explanation from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrvergnugen Also, after reading that link, it's the first time I've realized that "Fahrvergnugen" meant "driving enjoyment." All these years and I thought VW just made that word up.
