What's your favorite fictional band?

This was a bit of an odd list to put together, since some of these fictional bands eventually became real bands. But I figure if an all-animated band like the Archies can get a number one jam ("Sugar Sugar"), then the Monkees and Spinal Tap get a fair shot too. And don't get me started on the length legal proceedings to get the Gorrilaz on this list.

I was going to vote for Spinal Tap, but since you included Limozeen... :P

Limozeen was an almost automatic response for me, until I saw the Blues Brothers. Limozeen IS definately awesome, but nothing can top Jake and Elwood. After all, they were on a mission from God. At the same time, though, I'm a bit fond of band names I've made up, too:

Pinocchio’s Army
Storms of Avalon
hypermonkey
Monkeys Writing Shakespeare
FishBone
The Bloody Daisies
JoJo’s Not Dead
Pseudo Judo
Doesn’t Play Well With Others
Shrewdd Stigma
Flaming Koalas (actually, a friend made up this one...but still...)
…ellipsis…
TOBAGH (pronounced: toe-bag)
Pelted by Copper

Dang it! I didn't see the Blue Brothers. I voted for Spinal Tap.

OK, The Monkees were a real band. On their later albums, beginning with "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, & Jones, Ltd.", they mostly played their own instruments. I voted for Spinal Tap.

I can't choose between Limozeen, Cool Tapes, Gorillaz, or The Crescendolls (from the Daft Punk anime). I also like Angstarap, but I made that up.

The inclusion of the Blues Brothers made the choice of Spinal Tap much more difficult than it otherwise would have been. The first Blues Brothers movie was better than the Spinal Tap movie--it had the best and most drawn out ending ever. But I like listening to Tap more and the Tap movie is easier to watch multiple times.

Wait..."A Clockwork Orange" wasn't a comedy? But it was so funny! Seriously, though, all these votes for Spinal Tap...I guess I should watch the movie or something, because I still stick by my Blues Brothers vote.

Any band that has the greatest drummer in the world --- Animal --- definitely has a bit of an advantage. :)

I checked out the band in Wikipedia and there's some interesting trivia about all the members, namely that most were sly homages to real artists. For example, Floyd, the bearded guy, was pink ... as a tribute to Pink Floyd. :p

Wha... I can't decide! There's Limozeen, The Blues Brothers, Timmy! (and The Lords of the Underworld), and Sargent Peppers (thanks for including them by the way. ) !

So I einie-meanie-minie-moe'd and chose The Blues Brothers. You can't really beat driving an old police car with

-cop tires
-cop suspension
-cop shocks
-cop... stuff

through a mall, now can you?!?!?

Not to be confrontational or anything, but I think --- not even counting the hair --- Animal was more orange than pink. I am watching "The Great Muppet Caper" right now, so I say that with the utmost confidence. :)

Bill: I'm Bill S. Preston, Esquire!

Ted: And I'm Ted "Theodore" Logan!

Both: And we're, the WYLD STALLYNS! *they jam out*

Yeah, I haven't really expressed my fandom of Bill and Ted here, but that movie is hilarious.

Also, Fat Larry's Band is quite good.Warning, site has swearz.

Toad the Wet Sprocket. :P

No, kidding.

The Blues Brothers.

Although Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are awesomely too. Why come nobody mentioned them before me? Oh wait, nevermind, they have. BUT STILL!!! SO FEW PEOPLE MENTIONED THEM!!! And Limozeen is okay, though I prefer the Kinda Long-Haired Band. But seriously. THE BLUES BROTHERS OWNS JOO. AND POSSIBLY JOUR MOM.

Also, what's that death metal band in that one SBEmail? I forget the name, but it should be there too.

Ah, you're thinking of TARANCHULA.

I had considered of putting them on the poll, but I already had Limozeen and Cool Tapes in there, so I might have split the h*r.com fans three ways if I'd included them. :)

By the way, when I first saw the band Dethklok from Adult Swim's "Metalocalypse," I wondered if Brendan Small (the creator) was a fan of Homestar Runner. A lot of the jokes seemed like they came straight from the "death metal" email.
