Which series is nerdier: Star Wars or Star Trek? I'd have to say Trek. Might be kinda obvious... |

(Hey, isn't there already a poll for this?) Anyways, I'm a Trekkie/Trekker/person who watches Star Trek. |

I don't think you read my post. I said which do you think is NERDIER, not necessarily which one is your favorite. For me, I like Star Wars a bit better, although neither one is that great, IMO. However, I'd have to say Star Trek is nerdier than Star Wars.
And yeah, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if someone already made this sorta thread before. |

I dunno...I think they both rank the same in nerd levels. It's too close to call. |

Oh, I see. Now that I think of it that way, I think they can both be quite nerdy. Both have large fan-bases, largely detailed universes etc. But, whereas Star Wars is more fantasy sci-fi, Star Trek is about the future of (and the hope for) mankind, exploration of the unknown and stuff like that. Star Trek also attempts to be more scientifically accurate (and before anyone opens their mouth, they travel faster than light inside a warp field). EDIT: Since Star Trek was made before Star Wars, I'd say Trek's nerdier. |

Star Trek, because it's more in-depth. Yeah, I know that Star Wars is quite in-depth itself, but it's only 6 movies, whereas Star Trek is scores upon scores of episodes in so many different series. |

Both I believe. Both can be really nerd-like if loved deeply. |

Star Trek, hands down. |

Both have huge fandoms, but Star Trek fans are more reknowned for being nerdy, so... Star Trek it is. Also, the Original Series is far crackier than the Original Trilogy, from what I've seen. |

But remember, Star Wars also has the huge Expanded Universe and scores of books. So although Trekkies are more renowed for their nerdity, I think it takes a deeper kind of nerdom to be a true Star Wars nerd. |

Trek, no comparison. Star Wars is geeky, whereas Star Trek is nerdy. |

Star Trek = playboys in campy uniforms aimlessly going on adventures through space, discovering diseases, falling in love, and getting plowed along the way. Star Wars = a battle against the evil of the world and the evil of oneself, with universal messages of love and value and completely developed characters and storyline, right down to the nitty-gritty details. Which one sounds nerdier to you?

I don't watch Star Trek, watched it once, slept through it... True story. I think Star Trek is more nerdier, seriously... |

Both are the stereotypical nerd things, and I don't like either, so I voted both. |

![]() I honestly don't know. It really depends on your definition of "nerdy." And that differs from person to person. |

Star Trek is nerdier to me. There's more "technical, futuristic" stuff that they explain on it. Plus Vader is one bad dude. I've seen more "regular" people who like Star Wars then Trek. |

True, normal people can love Star Wars, but have you seen the Wookipedia? There's a lot more to Star Wars than the movies. |

Star Trek, of course. That's one of the reasons I watch it. |

Star Wars has universal appeal (and no, not because of the Ewoks and space boobies).
And Trekkies... they're weird. Kinda creepy. |

Not to mention corny prequels with horrible dialog, cheesy Holiday specials and cute furry animals(*)! And what's this about Trek being limited just to nerds? Go watch Trekkies 1 and 2. While the documents do show how bizarrely far some are willing to go with fandom, they also shed light on the broad audience that Star Trek has and what kind of an impact it has had on people. Ultimately, SW and ST are two entirely different universes. Judging by your experience, it seems like you've only seen one or two movies and maybe 2-3 episodes of the original series. It's not hard to tell where your bias lies in your arguments. Ok, I'm done with this silly argument. I'm gonna go put on my Starfleet uniform and recreate some space battles with my miniature starships. (* I know, there were tribbles in Star Trek but they didn't play a big role anyway.) |

I'd say Trek. A whole bunch of normal people have seen Wars, but not Trek. |

I love them both! I can't decide. Star Wars hands down! Yup Star Wars is better therefore Nerdier because us Nerds and Geeks are the intelligent beings on this planet(therefore better). |
