I actually sort of like the "modern" elemental system, which tends to include light and dark as well as the four Western alchemical elements.

Anyway, I can't decide which one I am, but I know I wouldn't be Earth! It's all... boring and stuff.

Fire. Fire is good. Fire keeps you warm when the power goes out during an icestorm and the temperature dips dangerously close to freezeing. Fire is everybodies friend.

You forgot about lighting things on fire. Then again, most people that happen to be on fire at the time do not particularly consider fire to be a friend of theirs.

But also water is good, because you need it to live. And if you don't have it, you dehydrate. And it keeps you cool.

Hold on, you know what?

You need water, for sure, so that you don't degrade into a mass of dead cells that seriously needs some chapstick.

Air is necessary, for sure, so that you don't asphyxiate. Nobody likes to asphyxiate.

Without earth, we'd all be living on a planet of pure linoleum. Ever tried to dig for fossils in linoleum?

Fire, however, is only necessary if you find it absolutely imperative to light stuff on fire. As such, I embrace it!

Air, definitely.

Give me an umbrella and I become Mary Poppins.

(Don't ask, long story)

Ah ah ah, without heat we'd all be frozen to death!

As all the cool kids say, fire FTW.

Sorry, bucko, but I hate to tell you, but the chemical processes that drive your body are pretty much identical to the ones in fire, save for the addition of a catalyst or two that lets then burn at lower tempuratures.

Fire because it's fun to play with something you could easily kill you and others with(and because some stupid bear hates it).

Technically, the sun is a mass of incandescent, ionized gas, which makes it air/electricity and not quite fire. At least, in my mind.
