I have four different punctuation marks that I like just the same. 1. Ellipsis: Because I can use it to create suspense or a cut off thought (showing some emotion sometimes) in my stories. 2. Exclamation: Because what's a good action scene in a story without some screaming and yelling and carrying on? Whoo!! 3. Question: I use this one a lot. If you ask questions in a story, you let the other characters learn more about each other, so they can react with each other better. 4. Quotes: Either ' or ", I like both. I usually use these with sarcasm in my stories, as well as when a character speaks (of course). You can usually tell when I'm being sarcastic because I'll put something in single quotes. Example: I just 'love' writing college essays. They're so 'fun'. Real meaning: I freakin' hate college essays and they're about as bad as putting needles up under my fingernails. Well, there you go. My favorites. |

Yes. Quotation marks are perhaps the most useful mars, after periods and commas. |

Semicolon FTW. Parenthesis and hyphen are a close second and third, respectively. That interrobang thing is cool. |

Actually, my new favorite signs are and because it shows where the power is, but lets it all be equal. (Hippie time.) (Punctuation marks not shown because they don't show up.) |

I really need to start reading the whole poll before I vote. I voted exclamation point but I definitely overuse the semicolon just because it seems very intelligent and such to do so

Heres a question. Is $ a punctuation mark? Probably not. |

I think $ is just a symbol, because it doesn't change the structure of a sentence in any way. Not that I would know. I voted for semi colons. I blame C++. "My program isn't compiling because it contains a hundred syntax errors! Oh, I forgot the semi colons." I like the interobang too, but it is unnecessary. Kind of like |. I have no idea what | is for in sentence construction. I only ever use it on wikis. Does anyone know what | is called? I've been pronouncing it "uh". Is it even punctuation? |

Thank goodness for semicolons, eh? Otherwise the whole digital world would come crashing down around our heads. |

Not sure what it's called and I've never seen it in sentences, but in math it shows an absolute value (The distance of a number from zero), like |3| or |x-2| |

Oh yeah. I knew that. But I kept thinking of logic when I was trying to figure out if it was used in maths. Which as far as I can remember uses ~, ^ and v. Quote: Thank goodness for semicolons, eh? Otherwise the whole digital world would come crashing down around our heads.
Or at least the part that's programmed in C++ and related languages. |
