Are you a brat?

If so, explain what kind.

Personally, I'm a mischeivous brat. I like to pull pranks and such. I don't whine. Tho, I do sulk and get irratable. While your busy chewing me out or something, I'm busy thinking of a prank to pull on you later for revenge.

I enjoy being a brat.

What about you?

Well, I don't consider myself a brat, but I don't come from a military-like family, either. My grandfathers both served in WWII (Army and Air Force, respectively), but no one from my immediate family served in any force, nor were they overly militant in any way. I don't think you have to come from a military-like family to not be a brat. You can learn respect, dignity, and decency without it being beaten into you.

It was just a small joke.

Also, I'm not meaning you have to be FROM a military family. I'm meaning that your family is strict like the military. You know, your life is on a schedual and such.

Military-Like means like the military. Not from the military.

Anyways, I have nothing against 'military brats' as their called. So no one start on me about that. I hold great respect for those who have served our country.

I agree with that. Tho, I come from a family who didn't mind to spank their child, yours truely. I still became a brat, tho. But like I said, I'm not the whiny brat.

I think grounding a kid from what they like for a good lenght of time is a good form of punishment myself. Or simply just ground them to their room for awhile. Take TV, phone, video games, internet away for a week or so and see how that works out.

I guess my parents did well bringing us up. They spoiled my little brother, so my sister and I never really got bad, when we saw how screwed up our brother was getting.

I'm neither, I'm no brat, and my parents are mostly-strict, but not military (I often sleep until 9:30 on school days, I'm homeschooled) I'll vote military, I've known many, many brats... *shudders*

Neither. Whilst I don't have to be up at like 3:00 in the morning on the double, I don't ever not sleep in. :p

I voted brat, because I can be kind of lazy sometimes, but I don't really think I'm either. I came from a pretty lax family, but momma didn't raise no fool, either. :P

Oh, I'm no fool either. lol

I was raised good. But still, I was spoiled a bit.

But mostly, my mischievous bratty-ness comes from the fact that for a period of 13 years (counting kindergarten) I was the school's punching bag. I don't know why. But I was.

I even asked a kid once why they beat the everloving crap out of me every day. The answer:

"You where born."

So yeah, I just became, secretly, a little evil. Now, if you bug me, if you aggrivate me enough, start looking for some pranks coming your way.

And I don't mean just little kiddy pranks either. I'm meaning things that'll embarrass you for a good long long time.

I like revenge.

Not at all, atleast I hope not. My brother is, my parents were afraid of second-child syndrome and spoiled the living crap out of him.

Is it possible to be both a brat and not be? Because I've got a friend who admits she was spoiled rotten as a kid (only child), and she gets upset if things don't go her way, but she is also very humble. She's kind of like Wilt from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends--she'll do stuff you ask and things like that. Actually, I know a couple people like that--even me, to an extent. What does that make us?

Your not a total brat.

As a mischievous brat, I'm kind of the same as you guys. Yeah, I'll do something for someone if they ask me. But my bratty-ness is just with pranks and such.

You all seem like you would be a mild form of a short tempered brat. Your not really bratty, your nice and all. But if put under enough pressure, you will get angry and sulk/gripe/whatever.

Your mild brat. Not that bad.

I'm not a mild brat, tho I said I was kind of like you guys. I'm still a full on brat. I do have a short fuse and sulk a lot. It's the Irish in me. But I'm anything but a total brat. I know how far to go before I get belted upside the head.

I know brats. Very well.

I've grew up with a bunch of them. They're called cousins. Almost all of them being younger than me. Since I am the oldest grandchild.

I've had to babysit some of the youngest cousins. Not that I wanted to, nor was I even asked. The family would just bring them, dump them on me, and then just walk off somewhere else and talk and have a good old time. And there I was, stuck babysitting. Against my will.

Mind you, I like kids. But I'd rather have someone else to babysit them other than me. I am a very high strung little kitsune.

But I've learned to grin and bear it when babysitting. Even if it means pushing them on the tire swing for hours on end and letting them think that they know everything about the universe.

Also, I've learn to say NO to the family. So they have to put up with my cousins theirselves.

I was not born into this family to put up with everybody's kids while they all have fun.

They even tried to get me to watch one of my cousins at a theme park while they went off and did their own thing.

I don't ride kiddy rides. I refused. They had to babysit themselves.

It's not a vacation for me if I can't do what I want.

Ehh, that's not all too bratty. Some of it's just you trying not to be picked on by your family, which I'd say it fair.

Finally, someone agrees with me.

It is fair.

I just get so sick of being their babysitter all the time. I don't even go around the family anymore.

Quite honestly, I'm not that well treated in that family.

See, me and one of my cousins graduated at the same time.

I got $300 for graduating.

My cousin got $3,000.

That's a $2,700 difference. I feel so much better about myself.

Also, something they do, they'll beg me to come visit. So I do. And when I start talking with them when they have a conversation, they'll all go outside on the porch. If I go outside to join them, they all go back inside. Just ignoring me.

They also complain I eat too much. When I'm the only family member (if I can call myself that, I don't feel like one) that doesn't get seconds at dinner.

Yeah, they really like to make me feel like I'm just there to make their life easy.

Thanks for saying it's fair. Hardly anyone I know has told me that.

Also, 100th post. Whoo whoo. And I'm done celebrating. Nothing big.

I'm not a brat.... at least I don't think so. I do what I'm told, and I shy away from doing pranks...

I still know how to have fun, but just good, safe, clean fun.

Why thank you, Douglas. I'm honored.

Yeah, I know too much about brats. Being around the little snot-nosed things my entire life.

Some brats ain't that bad, tho. Like me, I'm not a bad brat. I just like to pull pranks on those who do me wrong.

A mousetrap in a shoe. A bowl of curded milk hidden somewhere in their room in the heat of the summer. X-Lax and Fire Sauce in their chili.

Yeah, I'm not a bad brat.

Me too. I can go on for days without being noticed. Until I'm told to wash the dishes, that is. Once I get lazy, they recognize me.

Yeah, the same with me. But mostly when I was younger. The focus was always on my more successful older brothers.

Hey, try that being the only child.

My family (father's side) really doesn't notice me until they want someone to grip at or complain about. That was the family I was talking about in an earlier post in this thread.

It's all about my cousin. He's the best thing that ever happened to the family.

And I'm the worst.

Needless to say, I'm the blacksheep of my family.

Well, at least it's success and not success. My parents are all over me on my college decision whenever something brings it up. I almost want to go so I can shut them up about it.

Okay, this is something I've found out.

And I'm going to tell you all this and please listen.

No matter what the crap you do, there's still going to be someone that's going to be ticked at you.

Trust me, I know this from experience. I have some of my family who would, if I had the perfect job, a nice wife, adorable kids, and living a comfortable life, still chew me out for something completely and utterly stupid.

People now a days are too trivial.

The only real thing you can do is to grin and bear it. Because trust me, you can't and never will please everybody.

So true. There's always going to be one person out there to get you, and that one person will eventually cause more to do the same.

So so very true.

You know, I also think I might be a oneupsmanship brat. I love to tell people they're wrong and correct them. And I hate being wrong myself.

I'm often the victim of brats like that.

For some reason, a lot of the brats I know think I'm the dumbest thing to walk this Earth. Because they'll constantly correct me.

I'm so sorry that I say "ain't" instead of "arn't".

I'M FROM THE FREAKIN' SOUTH!!

Sorry, a pet peeve of mine. That's one of the things I get bugged about sometimes.

I think it's funny sometimes, tho. Usually, I am right. And I prove it to them. And they'll still argue with me.

The whole "White is black, black is white" thing.

Now, if someone can prove that they're right, I don't mind being corrected. Learn something everyday, you know.

Spiteful brats, the ones who get enjoyment out of making me look like a complete idiot, those are the ones I wish I could use duct tape to shut them up.

Duct tape fixes everything. If you have enough of it.

I've corrected plenty of people myself. So I could possibly be considered the kind of brat you pointed out, Cyber.

But more than anything, I'm the kind of brat that likes to pull pranks. Sharpie markers and air horns are my best friends.
