For all us technology geeks here, which do you prefer: Intel or AMD CPUs? I've used Intel all my life, but I always hear that AMD is at least a bit better...

Same here. Some of the computer stores in my area dont even stock intel.

Still, though, intel does have the better theme jingle. The little intel inside thing. That is the main reason I love intel.

I'm cheap :bubs: , so AMD is great! At least it used to be until it became more prevalent. Now they cost about the same. And the main difference is that AMD runs at a lower temperature using less Mhz to do the same amount of work. So you don't need as big a heat sinc on the chip as you do an Intel. Geez, I am a computer nerd!

My main compy has a Pentium 4, but my higher-equipped laptop has a Turion X2 5200. It drips awesome out of the firewire port.

AMD pros: cheaper for equivelant chips, Runs faster with fewer mhz/ghz, come out with technology sooner than Intel.

Intel Pros: I run a blank on this one. Maybe they're in more computers...

Anyway, AMD wins, Yoshi said so.

i think amd is better for all the reasons stated above, and that they are very very durable.

my computer is like...5 years old now? it has an amd sempron 900ghz in it. yeah it still runs smooth. of course it as slow as frozen molasses flowing uphill in the winter time, but who cares? i cant afford a new one ok? so yeah,my computer probably runt 100+F all the time and it hasent died yet. my momscomputer died about 2 weeks ago,but thats because the hard drive went out,so it wasnt the cpu...(we have the exact same comp). so thats my 2 cents.

Same thing here, same processor even. Our motherboard broke before the processor ever would. On the other hand, we are about to put a 3.2 Gigz Intel Pentium 4 in here...

You'd have to upgrade motherboards, anyways...I've never heard of a motherboard that had a processor socket that fit both Intel AND AMD processors on the same board.
