Come on baby. Er, nevermind. I've gotta agree with eggs on this one. Death wouldn't be so bad, but pain sucks. |

I do not the fear the Reaper. Like everyone else said, pain sucks, but death would be okay. I look forward to death, so I can see my grandfather again. |

I'm inclined to believe something similar, but dying still gives me the jumping jehosephat jibblies. The Reap himself isn't scary, though. And this is a pretty interesting poll. |

Nor, for that matter, is a guy who looses a limbo cotest to two grade-schoolers.

I grew up thinking of the grim reaper as the discworld computer game version. The pixely ones that yells at people and is always after rincewind. I don't fear that guy. No way. Blue Öyster Cult says not to, anyway. |

I think of him as the "Grim Ripper." That guy is awesome! |

I like the reaper, he'll do funny stuff if you block his way in the SIMS, also fun to switch out the models and have the reaper be your SIM. But anyways, I don't really fear death for myself. But I guess I'm afraid some other people might die. But that has nothing to do with a reaper now does it? |

Not afraid, but I guess it'll be annoying. I won't be able to do stuff I really wanted to do during life. |

Seriously, once you are dead, you don't know you are dead so no problem there, but the pain before is what I worry about. |

I'm just terrified of not existing, you know? I like being alive too much. The world's a nice place to be. |

How do you know that you won't know that you're dead once you're dead? As my memory serves me, once I had crossed over into death, I was quite aware of my state of non-living. |

Well, since I have no clue what happens after death, yes. I'm scared. |

Thats sorta my point of view on not "believing." You either do believe, and you either go to heaven or nothing happens. You don't believe, and you either go to hell or nothing happens. (Sorry about how blunt and insulting that sounded. It's not supposed to sound like that.) |

I think his point (well made, by the way) was that most other viewpoints, including reincarnation, are very uncertain. Eggs and me seem to have the same belief--and one that is VERY certain what will happen. If you have a different belief, you can't be sure, so even if it were true, you have no idea what's going to happen. I'd be very afraid if I believed in reincarnation--scared I'd come back as something crappy or not at all. |

Just FYI: Not all reincarnationist beliefs follow the Hindu path of being potentially reincarnated as different species. In some Pagan beliefs, it is believed that if you screw up in this life, you get reincarnated--always as a human--until you get it right. Once you get it right, you have the choice of being reincarnated again or else going to Tirnanog ("The Land of Eternal Summer," i.e. "Heaven"). As far as certainty of beliefs...I can say (quite honestly, too) that I am very certain of my own beliefs concerning the afterlife. The only thing that any of us can say with ABSOLUTE certainty is that our physical bodies are indeed mortal and finite, meaning that all of us shall eventually die some day. |
