Post subject:  Groundhog Day!

I'm suprised there hasn't been a thread made about this beloved day. Maybe not beloved, our dear groundhogs have played their game and it looks like it's in our favor, more groundhogs predicted spring, but who knows. Derived from the roman's hedgehog day, have a happy groundhog day everybody.

Well, right now, it's winter. When winter ends, I'm pretty sure it'll be spring.
Unless something strange happens, and the earth's tilt gets all messed up Spring's gonna come on 21 March.

When's the weather going to be "Spring" weather? Probably whenever it warms up.

It's gonna be the same day over and over and over again for many, many years...and all because of Bill Murray.

Y'all know there is no difference in the predictions, right?

6 more weeks of Winter = 6 weeks until Spring

Glad I'm not the only person to notice that...

This morning, I heard a lady on TV say something about the recent predictions of early springs were "undisputable proof of global warming".

Yes, Groundhog day is certainly a scientific thing. It's unpossible that some animal could be wrong. :-P

I just got back from watching that movie about 2 minutes ago.

We had groundhog-shaped cookies, too. My foster mom got the cookie cutter in Punxsutawney. She's pretty obsessed with Groundhog Day... She's even wearing her official Groundhog Day sweatshirt, and her collection of yearly stuffed groundhogs is on the shelf over there.

Seriously, that's true. My cat predicts the weather for me all the time. I think she's magical.

Did you know the people who hate Christians are trying to ban Ground Hog Day because it originates from a Christian celebration. Weird, huh?

LOL. I haven't heard that one yet...but everyone's trying to ban stuff nowadays, it seems. Seems like the world won't be happy till everything in existence is banned.

So, Groundhog Day has already passed. And the high temperature for tomorrow is, in the soothing words of Local on the 8's, near 5. Five degrees, that is. And this isn't in Celsius (in comparison, five degrees Celsius would be downright balmy).

Consider that it's either six weeks more of wintry winterness, or spring magically pops out and bestows its warmness upon the land. Nothing in between; it's mutually exclusive. Since there's already at least one day when we're freezing our appendages off, there is no way that winter couldn't extend for six weeks more.

And that's why I don't rely on woodchucks as meteorologists. Besides, beavers are much less hostile when approached.

Wiarton Willy said early spring. Wiarton Willy is wrong 70% of the time. It still feels like winter here.
