There's a coffee shop here in Colorado called Peaberry that sells Coke in those old-school 8 oz. bottles. Delicious. But the only other kind of soda I've had in a glass bottle is Jones. Also delicious, but in glass, I think, soda tends to warm up more quickly. |

i hear that there is some science behind this, apparently, the way the glass lets in air,and they way it's coated, opposed to aluminum and plastic,it what makes it supposedly tastes better. i think its mostly in peoples heads. and a good place to look for glass bottles drinks, in antique shops/gas stations/knick knack stores |

I don't think I've ever had a soda in a glass bottle, but fro some strange reason I have the feeling it would taste better. I'm thinking the coldness of the glass when your lips touch it would give it a more crisp, cold taste. Ian, I'd think it would keep the soda cold longer - glass is an insulator, if I'm not mistaken. |

Yes, it does. They sell Coka-Cola in glass bottles at the nearby store, and it is delicious. |

In Prince Edward Island they only sell glass bottled pop. I don't really notice any difference in the taste, but it's definately a novelty to drink from a glass bottle. |

Well, the bottle could have several effects on the sode. For one thing, glass bottles tend to be thicker than plastic bottles. Glas bottles are a few milimeters thick, while plastics are less that 1 milimeter thick. This could easily affect how heat is transfered, and will therefore effect the soda. Also, glass keeps the soda carbonated longer. It doesnt bend like plastic does, so no excess carbon dioxide can escape through the cap. You are corect about the littering part, especially off of highway overpasses. |

Yes, partly because of the properties of glass, and partly because brands that put it in a glass are generally higher-quality brands. Thus, better tasting soda gets associated in your mind with glass. |

I definitely wouldn't say THAT. Maybe every major soda company is. But no personal taste says Shur Fine is better than Pepsi or IBC. But I do think many companies that use bottles are considered more "top-notch", and yes, some companies use better ingredients to make their soda. However, a lot of it is due to personal preference. |

Glass bottle? The only time I remember a soda in a glass bottle was when I was in the Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic. But I didn't drink out of it. We poured in into a cup of ice. I'm sure the taste of the soda is affected by the glass. Is it? Someone correct me. |

My guess is that the difference would be because the plastic and aluminum change the taste, whereas the glass not so much. |

If you buy Coke from glass bottles at Mexican food stores, you're getting Coke with real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, which some people swear by. I do know that Mountain Dew tastes 1,000% better out of cans than it does out of plastic bottles. |

Real sugar soda of any variety is WAY better than that fructose corn stuff. It's somewhat sweeter and it's a different "kind" of sweetness too. Also, you don't need as much cane sugar to sweeten something as you do corn syrup, so it may be better for you in that respect. I wonder what soda sweetened with honey would taste like? |

Coke is more fun to drink in glass bottles, sinmply because it's harder to get and it looks old-school. This is followed in close second by cans, they are just fun to open, that 'frrrrrch' sound is worth the it, I'd pay $1.80 for an empty can of gas and extra for the coke (This is not true). Plastic bottles ruin the fun, it's just a container for your beverage. |

Oh course pop in a bottle tastes better! I don't really have any well-developed facts to reinforce my statement, but come on guys, glass beats aluminum any day! |
