So what's your favorite game that comes with Windows? I kinda go through stages--I'll play Minesweeper a lot for a while, then Solitaire, then Hearts...yeah, really working my GeForce 8800 GTS with these games. Heh. Still, though--what's your favorite?

CLASSIC windows gaming? These things are newest games that you're gonna get out of microsoft free.

I'm stuck between freecell and solitaire. I never really liked pinball, for some reason.

I essentially meant stuff that comes with the OS itself, as opposed to gaming on your PC with games you buy (or obtain otherwise...>>) and install seperately from the OS.

I've always considered only the first four to be the classic ones - spider solitare and pinball were added in ME or XP, I think. I voted pinball anyways, though. I liked that game before it was even included in Windows.

Most of the users here are young enough that they've only remembered growing up on XP, I thought.

Also, you could get Spider Solitaire and Pinball in addons for Windows earlier, I think even Windows 95.

It's a tough call between that Pinball and Minesweeper. I'll have to think about it some more.

You, my good mod, have VERY good taste in classic PC games. That game was awesome.

Of the poll options: Pinball.

Gorrilas=awesome. I like Chip's Challenge (except the block-pushing levels) but I never got it on my computer--I had to download knock-offs of it.

Definitely pinball. I got really addicted to it at one time, but could never beat my brother's score.

I remember back in the days when a keyboard on a Coleco Vision was a computer. Yes, I used to play everything that came on the OS with it, which was really just a primitive form of DOS and BASIC. Yes, I used to play everything from Donkey Kong, to Q~bert. Those were the days.

Pinball. Solitaire is boring, mindsweeper gets old fast, so Pinball was the only exciting one available. I mean, it's pinball. More video game-ish than the other games.

I wouldn't really consider Pinball "classic", but regardless, Solitaire is probably my favorite. Who doesn't love watching all of those cards fly at you?

Decided to take Pinball and Minesweeper for test runs, starting with Minesweeper. Much much time later, still playing Minesweeper. We have winnar. Just got 8 seconds on easy and 43 seconds on medium. Still trying hard. [finally beat it in 203 seconds... not as good, but good enough to do something else with my life]

I like minesweeper the most. I used to play solitaire a lot, but I play it way too much for my own good on my iPod. And I don't like the simple mindlessness of pinball.

Considering that real pinball is a game played with a physical steel ball and physical rubber flippers, I find this statement very amusing. Video game-ish, huh?

(Freaks out because she also remembers this game) Well, I was six, but i still remember it. Nibbles, too.

Out of the poll options, Minesweeper. Love that game. Pinball was fun for a little while, but it got boring. I also enjoy the other games, though I never played Freecell much.

About Chip's Challenge, I loved that game. You can download it off the internet, which is how I got it. There were lots of awesome games that came with the Windows Entertainment Packs, I remember playing LifeGenisis a lot. And SkiFree.

I remember 3.1. My family had a computer predating that, but don't really remember it. After that we ran 3.1 and DOS on one computer (you could switch between them) Then we got 95, and with it great games. I actually was able to dredge up some of our 95 games like WinRisk, Watch out, Willi! and MindMaster, but gorrillas and nibbles weren't on it...
I call myself a child of the 80s even though I was born one month before the 90s began. I love those old games though...Willi was one of my favorites.

Same here. In fact, I remember the old DOS prompt on the Apple IIE my family had when I was a wee lad. But I said most of the users here. I feel ancient compared to the ever-prevelant 16> crowd here.

The worst thing about losing in solitaire is that no one beats you, you lost all on your own...
It's almost like you caused youself to lose.
And the worst thing about winning is you don't beat anyone.

Pinball for me, I could play that for minutes on end!

Glad you find me amusing, but I was kinda referring to the Pinball game on the windows computer, not pinball in general. I would say that it qualifies as a computer game a lot more than solitaire, and since I think that video games are better than one person card games, then Pinball made a better computer game to me.

---

Really. Solitare is just boring. Sitting around arranging the cards. Pretty boring.

Mindsweeper is just a pure luck game. Where's the fun in that?

I never found out how to play hearts, so that's out.

The Pinball game is just like the machines in arcades. It involves watching the ball so you can time your shots, and it has some depth where you can upgrade your...bumpers for more points. And there's high scores! A certain number of points you keep playing to reach so you can laugh in the persons face whose score you beat.

I don't own a PC, so it's uncommon when I get to play this game.

Wait, why would I? I'm pretty sure there's plenty of other better pinball titles on the web.

Minesweeper is absolutely not luck, unless you can't grasp the strategy. Like 90% of the American population, including me. I always got frustrated with pinball because I never had time to get past more than one mission before the game was over, and I always cared more about the missions than points.

Yes, quite. If you think Minesweeper is a game of luck, then you're playing it wrong.
