You stop being a n00b when you stop acting like one, Sbemailman. |

^I wouldn't really say so. It really depends on the person. I like to think that I went uphill gradually, though I can't name exactly when think I stopped. Sbemailman, on the other hand... |

I think most people go hrough the newb phase at some point, but it just lasts depending on varous things, such as maturity, and how well said newb clicks with others. Also, notice the 'ew' vs the 'oo'. That right there is a good sign of how you're making it. If one's refered to as the former, you're a regular guy, just a bit green. However, the double oh means more along the lines of "we know you can do better than that, so quit it". In short, newb = good, noob = bad, and everyone goes through the newb phase in different timeframes, based on actions. |

When you stop typing in all lowercase and stop thinking "omg didymus = p. diddy find of century" is anything to laugh at. |

I misread the question as "When did you stop being a n00b", so I voted for the amount of time I spent as a n00b, back in early 2000. A month. I agree with everyone else, it's about behaviour. Newbie, on the other hand... It depends on the size of the forum and how active you are. |

I think it mostly has to do with your behaviour. If you have poor english and grammar, you try to force memes, you reply to every topic regardless of whether or not you know what you're talking about, spend alot of time in the forum games or the first for boards, make one chapter stories that are never finished, have a poorly made banners/avatars or make one hundred topics a day you can probably consider yourself nooby to some extent. Keep in mind however these are just some tendencies I've seen in alot of people who I think are on the nooby side; they aren't set in stone. |

Clan had hundreds of posts, and he was always a n00b. So it all depends on behavior. You could be brand new and still post like a gentleman. |

Newb--a new player in an online game or new poster in an online forum. Someone who is genuinely trying to understand the game/forum. Ceases to be a newb when he has a good understanding of the game/forum. One day may become a vet, one who truly knows the game/forum and helps newbs. N00B--a player/poster, new or old, who prowls the internet for games and forums to ruin, or a young child too unintelligent to be allowed on the internet in the first place. Not affected by duration of profile. Posts nonsensically, flames, generally acts like an idiot. May one day become a normal poster, but only with a complete personality change. That answer your question? |

Oh, and I forgot. You stop being a n00b when you realize that stopping has two p's. Unless you were asking when we stope being a n00b. |

I didn't say there anything wrong with it. If you'd read my post you'd seen that I said those were just things I'd noticed most n00bs around here do; being guilty of one or two doesn't instantly make you a noob. |
