This has probably been posted before, but just in case:

Do you like anime or not?
I know quite a few people here don't like it, but I'm curious to as how many like it and how many don't. Also, give your reasons for your answer.

Used to love it. Now, I really don't care. I still have a few of my favorite series on DVD - Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Macross Plus, Hellsing - but mostly because I don't know what's out there, or what's really good, I'm not into anything new these days.

And since there's not a "Don't really care one way or another" option, I didn't vote.

I don't really consider "Anime" a genre, though. Since there are so many different types, it's hard for me to classify, say, Cowboy Bebop, in the same category with something like Oh My Goddess. Even when I kept up with Anime, there were usually specific types I enjoyed and others I couldn't stand.

I've read the first volume of Fullmetal Alchemist, though, which sucked pretty bad.

I only like the anime I saw when I was 12 (Digimon, Dragonball...), I'm not into the really serious crazy ones that you can only buy on DVD and are subtitled and all that.

I'm not much of an anime fan. I saw the original Pokémon and Pokémon: Johto series when I was a kid, as well as a little bit of Speed Racer.

Now I've gotten into it a little bit again; I got a whole bunch of Trigun and Trigun: Maximum volumes for my birthday last year. The latter was a major let-down; I'd stick with the originals. After Trigun I started reading FMA; to date I've read the first six volumes, and I like it so much better than Trigun. FMA's not too serious, not too epic action every penstroke, and not too funny ha-ha stuff. It's a nice mix of everything without any overload.

There's not much anime I'll actively seek out. Once in a blue moon, something will pop out at me as something worth checking into (such as the movie "Paprika"), and it'll usually be an enjoyable experience. But to reflect the greatest part of my opinion, I put no.

Also, from the search I did, this poll has not been done before, even though I thought it had...

I don't care one way or another. I should have clicked "no," looking back on it, but still, I don't care much either way.

I think it's okay. About as good as any cartoon, American or otherwise.

Also, I love it. I don't watch many of them, but the ones I do, I OBSESS OVER.

Okay, maybe not to that extreme, but I love Naruto, FMA, the old Pokemon and Digimon, and some Bleach.

I don't care whether something is anime or not. If it's good, I'll watch it. I think it's annoying when people devote their lives to the worship of cartoons which happen to be from Japan, for that particular reason.

Yippee.

It's not so much I hate anime, it's that I hate the people who like anime. They have an "Otaku Club" at my school. You can't fail much more than that.

I don't know that I'd be so mean spirited about it, but you've hit the nail on the head.

I have a far greater problem with anime because of the fans than I do because of the actual anime. For whatever reason, anime fans seem to have some sort of superiority complex. "Oh, you don't like it because you don't understand it." or "oh, just because it's from Japan, does that mean you have to hate it?!?" are the two things I usually get.

Truth be told, I find most of the anime I've seen incredibly childish and simplistic (helloooooo Inuyasha), but I cannot argue that (in some of the more gritty ones) the art style is pretty impressive.
I really like the style used in The Boondocks. I know, it's not anime, but I know the style is taken from several anime shows.

I like me some anime. I mostly watch the stuff that's on TV like Bleach and Blood+. I'm not really into the trial and error of finding stuff on DVD, but occasionally something will catch my eye, like Air Gear.

If someone told me that second one, I'd respond with "Just because it's from Japan doesn't mean you have to love it, either." Then I'd probably add, "Dork." You know, for good measure.

I'm not into anime, but only because I've really never tried it. I'm sure different anime shows have different levels of quality, just like any American cartoon, or indeed any television show at all.

dont shoot me, but i think if Nick's Avatar, was redone in a more mature way, it would be awesome. the basic story is GOLD. but its not mature enough to be that great. also an old cartoon network series called Zoids...it awesome. i actually think it originated in japan, but im not sure.

so those are the two i like. welll the one i like. claymore is neat also, and a tad bit of gunslinger girl.

I remember Zoids. It was on Toonami, and I was 8. I couldn't resist.

Anyway, the only anime I ever really enjoyed and got into was Bo-bo-bo. Save for Excel Saga, that has to be the funniest anime ever. But then my crazy anime friend told me that in Japan it was cancelled after 70-something episodes. >:(

I occasionally watch Naruto, Bleach, or Bebop if it happens to be on while I'm channel surfing. You could call me a casual fan.

Anime's no better or worse than any other medium. There's some anime I like, and some I don't care for.

What does annoy me is how of course it makes sense for Nihon No Kawaii Kawaii Desu Ka?, the anime three people have heard of, to have a dedicated English language fanbase, but the existance of Codename: Kids Next Door shipping or a Homestar Runner fandom is a reflection of the sad state of the internet. Um, okay. It's not like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo or Fooly Cooly are at all silly.

Sorry. Needed to say that before I exploded or something. And Nihon No Kawaii Kawaii Desu Ka? isn't a real anime, I was just trying to say Cute Japan Is Cute? and most likely failing miserably.

I saw the ending to the last episode of Bo-Bobo. It's frickin' hilarious. It got canned after 64 episodes, I believe. It got canceled because some butthole mothers got all up in arms about the violence. Read the manga, then watch the anime. Which one is more violent?
