Post subject:  Your favorite Homestar Halloween costume? Part Six

Here now is Round Six of the "Homestar Halloween Costumes Polls" , in which you can vote for your favorite Halloween costume of 2005 (AKA Halloween Potion-ma-jig). If you've seen the past polls before, you should know what they're partly based on, so I won't repeat them here. Anyway, it's time for all y'all to do that all over again, only this time with the best Homestar Halloween costume of 2005. It's exactly the same, as always. Here's the link for the 2000 costumes poll: The "Homestarloween Party" costumes poll. And here's the link for the 2001 costumes poll: The "The House That Gave Sucky Treats" costumes poll. And HERE is the link for the 2002 costumes poll: The "Pumpkin Carve-nival" costumes poll. AND HERE is the link for the 2003 costumes poll: The "3 Times Halloween Funjob" costumes poll. AND HERE is the link for the 2004 costumes poll: The "Halloween Fairstival" costumes poll. I guess I don't have to remind you that you can still post votes in those polls.

Now, with that thought in mind, what is your favorite Halloween costume from Halloween Potion-ma-jig? Just like last time, simply pick your favorite in the list above. My vote, BTW, goes to Strong Bad as Jambi the Genie from "Pee-wee's Playhouse". The reason I picked that costume is, to put it simply, because I think it's a match made in heaven; I love Strong Bad and I love "Pee-wee's Playhouse". I've loved that show since childhood. I have it on DVD and sometimes I still watch it to this day. Hence, why my vote went to the ramblin' wreck of email-check himself as Jambi the Genie. Plus, I like SB's variation on Jambi's "Mekka-lekka-hi-mekka-hiney-ho" incantation. Anywho, what's your vote?

Oh, and before I forget, it's a requirement that you post why you voted for the one you voted for. I'd greatly appreciate that. And now, may the best Halloween costume win!

Definitely The Cheat. About 7 or 8 years ago, my siblings and our friends all dressed up as Mario characters, and me, being the smallest at the time, was given Toad, so The Cheat's costume made me smile.

...added to the fact, of course, that Toad is just generally awesome.

I guess I'm not the only one who chose a vote based on something I've liked since childhood. That's the reason why I voted for the KOT as Mario in the 2002 costume poll. There was a time when I was like eight or nine years old when I was absolutely OBSESSED with all things Mario.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention one thing: given our choices thus far, I really like how childhood comes into play like this. That's why my poll vote was a no-brainer for me, although I also like Strong Mad's costume, because the cartoon from which he originated was one of my true, all-time favorites.

I guess sometimes it's just too tough to call...

You post in your polls more than everyone else combined.

Also, Strong Bad.

Well, that last time, I tried hard to resist, but my conscience made me do it, provided I had something more decent and more on-topic to say and less repetitious to say.

On an unrelated matter, whatever happened to "Benefit of the doubt"?

Ya know, just cause this is fun polls, doesn't mean every single poll goes here. If you have a serious question about the world and want to make a poll on it, put it in R&P. If you have a Homestar poll, put it where it fits in the Homestar section. I'm pretty sure this is just so you don't put polls in off-topic.

Ah, I remember this halloween. This was the one with the costumes from Mario, Zelda, and DEVO. Teff, Jitka, and I drew the conclusion that TBC came here and spied on us.

Voted Toad.

Well, the truth of the matter is, for a while, I've had these threads in the "Toons" section, particularly since each was about a specific toon (namely, the Halloween toons, with each poll being for a different toon). However, I was told that stuff like this should belong in the Fun Polls section. So I asked the moderators to relocate them to the Fun Polls section. They consented. And here they are.

Also, I'm curious: who voted for Beaker? I never did find that out.

Ah, okay, thanks. I think, for future reference, it helps to choose a character and/or costume that you like. That's why it was so easy for me to make the decision that I made here. To me, my choice for the character was a match made in heaven, because I like Strong Bad and I like "Pee-wee's Playhouse".

Well, anyway, given the tallies thus far, for the moment, the final contestants in the last poll, which will happen around November or December, are as follows:

  • 2000: The King of Town (:kot:) as Cap'n Crunch
  • 2001: Homestar Runner (:hr:) as The Greatest American Hero
  • 2002: The King of Town (:kot:) as Mario
  • 2003: Stinkoman (:stinko:) as Speed Racer
  • 2004: Strong Sad () as David Bowie
  • 2005: The Cheat (:cheat:) as Toad

Mind you, this is just where the votes stand thus far, but as I said before, things are liable to change. We'll just have to wait and see.

EDIT: I've just added The Cheat as Toad to the above list, because now it's a neck-and-necker between SB and T.C.! Who's gonna win this time?! We need a tie-breaker here, people!
RE-EDIT: No, seriously, we need a tie-breaker here, people! 'Cause now Homsar is tied with SB and T.C.!
RE-RE-EDIT: We've FINALLY broken the tie!

I've noticed something about these polls. From a consistent standpoint, there is at least one vote per poll for both Strong Bad and Strong Sad.

And who else besides me is looking forward to the final poll, where as you know we determine which of the H'ween costumes that received the most votes (AKA the best H'ween costume for each toon from 2000 to the present) on each poll will be deemed THE best H*R H'ween costume of all time! I'm looking forward to it; how 'bout you? It's just too bad I'm unable to provide any prizes to the ultimate winner, though.

I'm just curious, who voted for Strong Sad's costume? No one really mentioned that yet. And I thought the rule was for everyone to explain who voted for who and why. (?) I thought I made that clear at the start of each poll here.

I voted Strong Sad because I like DEVO.

Though everyone announcing what they voted for isn't something that's done much in here.

I kinda gathered that. I thought that was one of the rules, though. If nothing else, it would at least give these threads the recognition they should have without me having to repeat certain things here. I was told about that and I'm trying to break myself of that. Which is why I only try to post here if I have something not-so-repetitive to say.

Anywho, I'm glad you like Devo. I chose my choices because I like 'em, either the characters portraying their costumes or the costumes themselves. In the case of this H'ween toon, it's both. I like SB and I love Pee-wee's Playhouse.

Well, a lot of people probably didn't read the entire first post (it's pretty long for a simple poll) so they might have missed it, but besides that, they don't have to if they don't want to. It's fine if you suggest they do, but it's still they're choice.

That was so funny I forgot to laugh.

But don't worry, there are now only three polls left to do, which will happen over the duration of the next two or three months: one for the 2006 costumes (from "Happy Hallow-day"), one for the 2007 costumes (from the 2007 H'ween toon, if it happens, which it probably will) and finally, the ULTIMATE poll, which will take the top winners from each of the past polls and pit them all together to see which one is the best of all time. That last one, however, depending on whether or not the 2007 Halloween toon occurs (which it probably will), won't happen until, at the absolute earliest, mid-November. Do you think you can hang in there until then?

I'm sure they'll all be forgotten by next summer anyway.

Did you know that, according to OpenOffice's wordcount and Calculator's math, in all of these polls, you typed 4.20 times as many words as everyone else combined?

What's wrong with "Hey, I'm making a poll for each cartoon up until now, then a poll for the 2007 toon and one for the final winners. Get voting."?

Well, I kinda knew that, which is why I'm trying only to respond when people respond, like we are doing right now.

As for your bottom comment, to say something in that kind of tone is... oh, what's the right word?... none too polite. You kinda hurt my feelings. I'm just trying to explain everything in a gentleman-like way. My father is always reminding to behave like a gentleman, anyway. To say something like what you said in the quotations above might be a bit impolite and, if I may say so, kinda insincere.

Besides, about this time during the holiday season, it'll probably all be forgotten.

BTW, can we please keep somewhat personal comments in the private message sections and keep the comments here on topic, off which I think this thread is starting to drift?

In other news, based on the polls above, looks like we FINALLY have broken the three-way tie! The winner, thus far, is a SECOND Mario character: Toad as portrayed the little yellow man, The Cheat!

Well, for the moment, anyway, it looks like the ultimate victor for this round is The Cheat as Toad. And if my calculations are correct, this would mark the second time in which an H*R character's H'ween costume that won was not just a Nintendo character, but a character from the Mario universe. The other character that won in this way was in 2002, with the KOT as Mario himself.

Anywho...

*drumroll*
