I had a fight in a text message with a stranger New Years Day.
I was trying to convince them how little of a deal New Years is. They seemed offended.

And I'm going to choose parties, because I enjoy hanging out with friends.

All it is is you waiting till midnight for absolutely nothing to happen, just a day rolling over, like every other day ever.

But it rolls over into another year. I take advantage of the new year to start over on everything I screwed up on the previous year. And that, children, is what the New Year is all about.

Okay, so it rolls into another year, it has done this thousands of times before, and will do it millions of times again.
And you can always start to improve your self any other day of the year.

I thought the ancient Romans began their calendar on the vernal equinox (in March, I think).
