Favourite Starter?
Bulbasaur. #001 is number one. 8%  8%  [ 2 ]
Charmander. Charizard is the best firey dragon thing ever. 12%  12%  [ 3 ]
Squirtle. I've always liked the cute little turtle thing. 19%  19%  [ 5 ]
Chikorita. This plant thing is kinda cool. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
Cyndaquil. Fire-weasels at their best. 8%  8%  [ 2 ]
Totodile. So great that Feraligatr's name doesn't even fit the character limit. 8%  8%  [ 2 ]

EDIT: If I had to choose, Charmander, a cool pokemon way before the series started jumping the shark.

But yeah, Mudkips are awesome. I also like most of the fire-type starters. Except Chimchar, he just looks like a monkey with his butt on fire.

I chose Bulbasaur because I could actually get through the first two Gym Leaders using him. Also...he's cool.

But really, I would of gone with Squirtle. I could pop in Pokemon Red right now, and see that I have a Blastoise at level 94-96-some. Man, was he awesome.

I've choose to play as Treecko in Ruby/Saphire (I think Torchic was the best choice overall), but I didn't treat Sceptile that well in the long run, giving him 3 HM's. Plus he doesn't seem that tough.

I never played Gold/Silver and Diamond/Pearl. If I did, I would give a more legit review of which is the best.

I would say Charmander. He was super-difficult to use back in the original games because of his type disadvantage in early gyms, but he could end up becoming a great Pokemon later down the line.

Runner-ups would mainly be the earlier generation starters, though Pokemon such as Piplup are pretty neat.

Now I'm going to go play Pokemon Blue...

Bulbasaur, because he could pretty much own half the gym leaders in Red and Blue by himself.

Totodile was pretty cool though.

Mudkips. Since I tend to be one of the younger members around these parts, Sapphire was the first game I played. Totodile is second place.

I thought the "Chim" in Chimchar's name meant he was a chimpanzee. Though I guess that logic doesn't apply for Charmeleon, who is definitely not a chameleon.
