Some of you (not many but some) will hate me for this. Go ahead. I understand the criticisms you have of these books but I like 'em anyway. I mean, despite their absurdity, they still dispense with the bull honkey and just straight up tell kids that life isn't fair. And that's something that needs to happen more often.

My favorite is definitely The Ersatz Elevator. Parsley soda, pinstripe suits, a long staircase, satire of the fashionable lives of rich people, plus it has very fancy doilies. What more could you want?

The Ersatz Elevator probably had the best story and subject matter of all of them.

You'll have to vote again, Abu - all the results got deleted. Like, I changed the question to something different after it was published, but I figured it would have no bearing on the poll results. I guess I was wrong.

I think I screwed it up - you missed Penultimate Peril, and I added it in.

I can't remember exactly, but I think I liked the Ersatz Elevator and the Slipper Slope.

Voted "Other" because The Unauthorized Autobiography was my favorite.

It was really the most imaginative, yet cryptic and very well put together altogether.

The End was lame btw.

Austere Academy.
After they introduced Count Olaf's girlfriend (whatever her name was) and they started searching for V.F.D., it just got really boring.

Hmm, this reminds me, I forgot to read the last three. I need to go reread the series, and then read those. But of the ones I read, The Ersatz Elevator and The Miserable Mill were my favorite. But I actually voted other, cause The Unauthorized Autobiography was what HHFOV said.

Lemony Snicket is coming to my town's library on April Fool's Day, btw.

I'ma get him to sign that book, and possibly The Beatrice Letters.

The Vile Village sucked so much that I stopped reading the series, so I don't know anything about what came after it. I'ma go with Austere Academy or Ersatz Elevator.

The Ersatz Elevator was the best. I never read the The End.

I quite liked The Penultimate Peril due to the way it told three different stories from the view of each orphan, but I probably couldn't place a firm decision on any book.
