Any of the above, really, but I can generally fall asleep pretty easy.

Uh, for the sake of the poll, I'ma go with reading, though, because that'll send me off pretty quick usually if I'm tired.

I usually lie awake for hours, thinking about stuff.
Going through complicated questions, these could be academic, religious or philosophical, depending on what mood I'm in, also having imaginary conversations, thinking about music and singing songs in my head, planning what I'll do the next day, remebering conversations and jokes, trying to start a dream so I'll get to sleep quicker, as well as anything else worth thinking about.

Yeah, I have a lot of trouble sleeping. So I said "trying to get to sleep".

I tell my cat to buzz off 'cause he's generally the one preventing me from sleeping, and then I lie in bed for ages trying hopelessly to get to sleep.

I flick on the TV. I bought a TV for my room and set it up in a cabinet right across from my bed, so I'm able to watch whatever I want in my position of slumber. Watching TV late at night tends to put me to sleep too, which is a plus.
