It makes more sense to go from smallest to largest. Therefore, d/m/y.

M/D/Y for me too. I've gotten into the habit of dating nearly everything I do on paper lately. I never start a page in my sketchbook without dating it.

But yeah, always M/D/Y. Like so:

June 7th, 2008.

(See how saying that just rolls off the tongue?!)

I do m/d/y, too, that's just always how I've seen it done.

(I also always write it with backslashes instead of slashes for some reason. Habit, obviously, but I'm not sure how it started)

I've always done it that way.

M/D/Y. Because I'm American.

Most other places it's D/M/Y.

I also support the filthy commie metric system but that's it, I swear.

d/m/y makes so much more sense.

Eg. today: 8/6/08, you read that as "8th of the 6th, '08".
Saying it's the 6th month of the 8th day wouldn't really make sense now, would it?

Except you wouldn't say it like that. 14th of May, 2008 (d/m/y) makes sense, but so does May 14th, 2008 (m/d/y). Since both written ways work, you can't really use that to choose the abbreviation.

Month/Day/Year. I can't really get it out of my head, since I've been using that format for my entire life. I don't even change up the date format to Day/Month/Year in Spanish class when we're supposed to.

But we do.

Someone asks "What's the date?" and someone else says "8th of the 6th". That's how it's said.

Being Australian, I use d/m/y, you also forgot the occasionally used y/m/d btw.

The d/m/y makes more sense, but since the standard way in America is m/d/y, I use it and don't have a problem with it.... Occasionally, I do write '8 June 2008' on a paper, though. If you really think about it, y/m/d makes the most sense, because it goes largest to smallest, just like the time (h:m:s).

So you've never heard anyone say "June 8th" before?

I can't speak for Biscuithead, but I'm pretty sure "June 8th" is American English.

d/m/y.

"8th of June" sounds more correct than "June 8th" to me, but yeah, people do say it both ways.

I'm not that into dating things and stuff (Why do archaeologists have to know the date of a moldy old Book Report? They don't, it's ridiculous, no point in recording time.) but when I have to its usually m/d/y, just numbers, too lazy to write out the name of the month or whatever.

You didn't say "8th of June", you said "8th of the 6th", which is a bit silly.

As for me, m/d/y because I grew up with it and it makes sense.

M/D/Y. I grew up with that and it makes more sense. Whenever I see D/M/Y I'm normally like, "So is that July 10th or October 7th?"

We actually say that down here, though.

So I guess that means we're all silly.

I interpret dates in the form day/month/year. It's logical to use incrementing values.
