Just had some real deep thinking, Socratic methods, or whatnot, have gotten me to search within myself a bit more, how Socrates questions everything, just really explores a lot, he got the human mind to progress further. And when his viewpoints were condemned, he stood by them, even when he was urged to leave Greece, he stood in the face of death and died (drinking hemlock) for his wisdom, to teach everyone. So that's why I'm voting not Plato/Aristotle.

Socrates: I respect him for sticking to his guns, but I disagree with his ideas. Plato: I respect his mind, eventhough his ideas were full of crap. Aristotle: I like his ideas and his methodology. I am a hardcore realist and so was he. I like, him believe that which I can experience. Plus he taught Alexander the Great. Aristotle it is. EDIT: Buhubs, why did you put a time limit on this poll? |

Definitely Aristotle, he was the world's first great physicist, even though 99% of his ideas were laughably wrong (by today's standards). But I like the way he observed things that no-one understood like gravity, stars, why things keep moving after you have thrown them, etc. and applied crazy new ideas to how and why they work. |

The great thing about Socrates is that he didn't really take a stand on anything except that we should always ask questions. Plato and Aristotle both took positions on the nature of reality and now both come across as somewhat primitive in thought. Socrates wasn't really putting forward any ideas, just encouraging others to think for themselves and showing them how. That never goes out of date. |

^This. In fact, he was erroneously put to death because of something claimed to be "his" idea just because some students of his had formulated it. He just asked questions when teaching, and those learning from them had their own interpretations. |

"Obscure movie" means that no one knows the movie exists. That's not an obscure movie. And if you mean the reference is to an obscure part of the movie, you're wrong anyway. His "battle of the minds" with Vizzini is the second most famous part of that movie (behind Inigo Montoya, etc). |

That's out of context, the obscure part was the reference, not the movie. |
