You're all insane. The proper name is "soft drinks". No-one I know outside of the internet ever calls them anything else. |

And the "South" is really just the "southeast". (That actually confused some Canadian friends of mine. They all say "pop" by the way. And "washroom" instead of bathroom. And that "aboot" thing is a half-truth.) |

If the US were distorted so that everywhere had even population density it'd look something like this (ignore the colors, that was the only appropriate picture I could find).

See, even Inverse's graph knows that soft drinks is the proper name. The other names for them are just nicknames in certain areas. |

Soft Drink is retarded. Soda has too many syllables. Coke is a type of carbonated beverage. Not a blanket term. Therefore, Pop. |

It says soft drink on menus and stuff so multinational businesses can stay neutral to the regional differences, but no one would ever SAY "soft drink", or even write it unless they're a lawyer writing some kind of weird contract that somehow includes fizzy drinks. If you said "soft drink" round here, you'd sound like you were talking in legalese, like saying "apparatus for the engraving of optical discs" instead of "DVD burner"The other names for them are just nicknames in certain areas.
