Hey, he's just trying to make a thread, post something contributing to the thread or leave it.

Personally, I think it's all fake.

That website is very convincing, but I really hope that we went to the moon.

Pic 1: Slope caus'd the different shadows
Pic 2: Some light gets reflected off the rocket onto his arm
and the background is faded because the cam is not focused on the whole picture
The structure is either a red wire inside the helmet or the flagpole (depending on which they're talking about)
Pic 4: Maybe the camera had a flash
Pic 5: So he's up higher than Buz... What's the point?
About the anomaly: Not all pics turn out perfect

Facts: You think NASA would be prepared for things like 270 degree heat on film - That's what they like do!

I don't see how all that stuff about going to the moon could be fake and JUST NOW be discover'd by an interntet site no one's heard of before.

Well it would make sense to fake it. If NASA couldn't arrange the space trip they would have faked it to beat the Russians.

I think that's all you need to debunk this conspiracy crap. I guess that the strongest proof that we did land on the Moon is that if there was any suspicion at ALL, the Russians (who were constantly listening to our radio transmissions) would have come out and said, "Those stupid Americans faked it! We win the Space Race!!!".

Please go to the website before you post here again, as all of the qualities of a "hoax" listed on the page in Bootler's first post are thoroughly torn apart within it.

I actually saw a documentary about this a year or 2 back. It showed some photos and spoke to the astronauts and planners of the mission and government people. Some of the arguments they put forward seemed pretty convincing like depth of footprints, direction of flags and shadows etc.

It was only when it aired as a repeat a few months later, a presenter from the network was talking about the first time it ran, and it was actually first run on April Fools Day. So the photos could have been doctored. And in the credits on the 2nd run, they showed the interviewees screwing up their lines, like a blooper reel.

Moon landing = real

The radiation would have killed them all: the film and the men. I never believed we landed on the moon.

Maybe, but is it also possible we went up, but the pictures were faked? Could it be that the film did not work, so they had to fake the pictures, but it really happened?

Ah! Revival to the max.

But, ya...I don't think it was a hoax at all.

I think it's real. The light from the pictures was probably the camera.

I can't believe there's even a question here.

Of course we went to the moon. You can see the landers from Earth with a telescope.

There's no question.

Actually, you can't... Given the size of the landers and the distance, it's almost impossible, unless you have a REALLY high resolution telescope, and, yeah, that hasn't been invented yet.
A lot of people say that, because the landers can't be seen, the landing was faked.

I can see how people could say it was faked, given all of the technological challenges that the engineers had to overcome (How can they go from nothing to the moon in 8 years and not fix foam in 3?) but, back then, the space program had carte blanche, and could get almost everything they wanted.. Now, not so much..

Its kinda sad these crazy conspiracy theorists have nothing better to do than trying to make everything look fake.

Yes, very sad. Does anyone know when these conspiricies roughly began? I think it might help undertsand what these people were thinking.

I don't know exactly when they started, but I've heard some people say it began as early as the day of the moon landing.
If it did, I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't something started by the KGB. Landing on the moon was such a matter of national pride that, since we beat them to the moon, the Russians had to discredit it, lest they look like technological inferiors to the Americans.

...really?

I thought for sure the Hubble at least can see them. Or is it just too close?

That's a question I've asked people, but they can never answer it: Why can't the Hubble take decent pictures of Pluto when it can take such spectacular shots of things trillions and trillions of miles away?

Hm. Well, there's still no question. Scientists use those mirrors they left on the moon for experiments all the time.

But why start rumors? Why not just come right out and claim it was false? I think if they really thought it was a hoax they would have come right out and said so.

Yes, of course we went to the moon. Read Bad Astronomy by Philip Plait to find out why the supposed "reasons" that the landing was fake are wrong.

I don't think the moon landing conspiracy is at all recent. I clearly remember several of these conspiracy theories surface quite a long while ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't new then, either.

Personally, I really, really want to believe that all these conspiracy theories are BS and we really did go, but the evidence otherwise looks awfully convincing. It's a real shame. :(

You know, I like think the moon landing was a fake, because I like to believe that kind of thing. I also like to think Meg White is a robot. But I'm not really sure. It could be totally legit. But an anti-The Man like myself would never say, "YES OMG WE TOTALLY WENT TO THE MOON!" So... yeah.

Well, had they come straight out and said it was a hoax, the world would have just said something like "oh that crazy KGB", and completely dismissed it. Having Americans say it would have made it sound like it had a little more credit. Of course, that's just an idea I've got. It's probably got little, if any evidence to back it up, but, then again, neither does this crazy "NASA FAKED THE LANDING" thing.
