Obviously we did. Even if we didn't and it was all a hoax, it doesn't really matter. I'm not a big fan of mindless drivel.

The only thing that ever gives me a doubt that the mission was possible is the size of the Saturn V rocket.. That thing is HUGE.
First impression is that there is no way it should fly. It just looks too big.
Of course, this is a dumb doubt, as it really did fly, I've talked to a dude that built the thing, and he's seen it fly..

Too big isn't a reason something can't fly... I thought the AN-124 was too big, too.. I mean, it WAS designed to carry the Russian Space Shuttle (inside).

I'm neutral kinda. If they did it, they did it. One supporting fact is that if they can get to space (there's no doubt they've gone to space), then why wouldn't they go to the moon?

Well, I saw some of the photographs from the moon landing, and I analyzed them thoroughly. I've been using photoshop for long enough to tell if there was any tampering, and I haven't seen any, so I don't see any reason not to believe it, but I wan't more proof to prove we went there when we said.

Heh, I saw a documentary about it just a few weeks ago. I guess they went to the moon, but that movie made me think. The flag waving, the identical background in two pictures that were supposed to be far from each other... I don't know what to think about that.

i have a story, that doesn't involve my personal opinion, so don't NOT read this.

So my history teacher last year assigned us all projects on certain topics, and my friend Josh got the Apollo missions as his topic. So on the day of presentations, Josh went and did some of his presentation on the conspiracy surrounding the events of Apollo whatever thingies. And after he was finished, Mr. Tucker BLEW UP IN HIS FACE about how the project was about history, not about conspiracies, and all this mumbo jumbo and he gave Josh a D. for trying.

Josh's new nickname (still in use!) is Apollo.

And that's my story.

That's hillarious!

I got a similar reaction from a World Civ professor when I did a report on UFOs in the Cold War.. Well, ok, so it wasn't similar, he laughed, and I got an A (because of the way we were graded under that weird system known as KERA, using technology was more important than having any real information, and I used powerpoint, which is something NOBODY did back then)..

The idea is this: UFO's ARE a government conspiracy, just not in the way that we think. The government came up with the idea of having some wreckage in Roswell, and paying a couple of people to say that there was a cover up.. Leak a couple of "incriminating documents", and the stage is set. The play is to distract the Soviets from what the US is actually doing by making them "chase ghosts". My "proof" is that the KGB actually had a rather large amount of resources devoted to UFOs and extraterrestrial beings.

Anyway, toastpaint.

I read something that said that we didn't actually go to the moon, with their proof being that the computers we had back then weren't powerful enough. While the compys were weak back then, I don't see this as a reason we wouldn't have tried a moon shot.. They didn't know computers weren't powerful back then. We do space stuff with the computers we have now, and, in 40 years, we'll look back at this and wonder how we ever made it with such primative technology.

This site is very convincing. It might have been a hoax, judging by the evidence, but right now, Snailmail is going to go eat an icecream sandwich.

Go read the book Bad Astronomy by Philip Plait to find out why the idea of this "moon hoax" is just plain freakin' WRONG. Oh wait, I already said that. See, this is why it's bad to revive threads like this! People forget they've already posted something and then say it again!

Or, if you don't feel like shelling out some hard-earned money (it's worth it, trust me), just go to his wedsite:

See? We DID go to the moon! Man, those conspiracy theorists sure are stupid, huh?

Can you please stop bumping threads in which my old idiocy is showing? It's really irritating. Yes, I do believe we went to the moon, because it's impossible to have a secret as big as this and not have any leak besides spectulation.

I didn't know it was old. I just found it when I went to the search. I guess I should look at the time of the previous post.

So what if the thread's old? If someone has something sensible (meaning as long as it's not something completely and totally off-topic) to add it, I don't see any problem with reviving old polls, or even old regular topics on certain occassions.

Personally, I'm not going to say anything about the moon landing. The conspiracy theories are quite convincing, but then again, they're just conspiracy theories.

We did. Because of Neil Armstrong.

That's a really crappy reason. I would say something more along the lines of, "Why would a government spend that much money for a hoax?"

I don't care about old treads being revived, I care about old threads revived where I post like an idiot. :p And wait a second: wasn't the launch of the rocket publically seen? Why would an empty rocked be sent into space, and not crash just to give the appearance of the astronauts landing on the moon? Life is so much easier when you use common sence.

The russians were listening to transmissions. If we didn't go to the moon I think the Soviets would of been mad we faked it.

I don't know. That article was pretty convincing if you read it. Maybe we didn't go to the moon after all...

Ummm... if the sun is the only light source used by NASA on the moon, people should put periods at the end of sentences on their "scientific papers". :p

It's the federal Govt. They're spending how much now looking for Hoffa's body?

If the Government did hoax it, they did it to one up the Soviets. Doing that would be a huge blow to the Soviet pride.

Compare the cost of looking for Jimmy Hoffa to what they spent fot the Apollo missions. There is no contest. The government isn't going to spend $135 Billion* on a hoax.

*Adjusted for inflation

I was just using that as an example though. I could have gone and said "If you want to see the government use money on hoaxes, then just look at the war in Iraq." I choose not to, for flame war purposes.

I think I may need a translater for that one. Governement?

The waving flag is because one of the astronauts bumped it. I personally think we made it, but I wouldn't put it beyond the government to fake it. I mean, we ARE going to the moon again in 2018, instead of planning a trip to Mars.

And Meg White- Definately a robot. Or a zombie. Possibly a robot zombie.

Lunar Jesty will still have to look like an idiot, but I do have something to add, the flag wasn't waving, it was an umbrella. Seriously. It popped up with a handle, like an umbrella. Seriously, NASA wouldn't want a floppy flag on the moon, because it has red, well, the soviets would be able to say "Well, it's red, so it must be our flag, because the American flag is in different colors!" and Stuff like that, or possibly even China could say that. Man, I love History Class.

I think we DID go to the moon, but I have one question- how was the camera set up? Did they get out of the space ship, set up the camera,go back in, and then step out and pretend like they were stepping on the moon for the first time? Someone answer me!
