Since the Beatles won that poll against the rolling stones, I decided to start a poll dedicated solely to the Beatles.

Who is the best member of the Beatles? You can vote for your favorite, or the most talented, or whatever.

John Lennon. He was the most talented, coolest, he got shot so that instantly makes him 10X cooler, he was so mellow he could stand Yoko ono for more then 10 minutes, blah blah blah....

They're all great. But if I had to choose, I'd choose Lennon.

Actually, you forgot Pete Best.

Just kidding, he doesn't count.

If I had to pick my favorite Beatle, I'd probably go with John Lennon, though my dad met Ringo.

If you had asked me this question a couple years ago, I might have said Lennon, but from my own songwriter's perspective these days, I'm actually leaning a little more toward McCartney. Some of his lyrics are kinda dopey, yes, but a lot of his songwriting ideas are so smart, and I don't know if his consistent sense of melody has ever been topped by anyone. It's almost even between the two of them in reality, though.

Seriously? I am so sick of Imagine! They always play it at Christmas, and whenever they remember John Lennon! It's way too commercial for me! He wrote some fantastic songs when with the Beatles.
I went with George Harrison. I was gonna go with John, but then I changed at the last minute.

Imagine is great. But Working Class Hero is probably my favorite John Lennon song.

 "zOMGzorz he was teh SHOTGUN'D so he is teh AEWSOMESZORESZZEDSOMG!!!!1oneone!!!o1!"

Sorry. *ahem* Still, that's no way to pick a favorite. Might I suggest going out and learning a bit about all the different Beatles before making a decision? ;) Anyone who needs reasons to love George Harrison can check out me posts in the Beatles vs. Rolilng Stones thread (also a good source for Paul-bashing ;)).

...anyway, don't listen to me. My third favorite Beatle is Brian Epstein (one of about twenty "fifth Beatle"s ).

Also, who's your favorite Beatlespawn? Mine is Dhani (whom girls all up ons the interweb find hot), though Julian is a close second...

I KNEW John was going to come in 1st, followed by Paul in 2nd, then George in 3rd and Ringo in 4th.

Anata, daiteyo.

I voted John Lennon. His songs are what got me into good music when I was young instead of that pop track.

I know, eh? ;) Should've put 'em backwards, so people would've ended up voting for Ringo only to realize later, " OMGWTFBBQ?! That's not the order they should be in!"
...would be an interesting social experiment...

...also, if you put them in order of age, it'd be Ringo-John-Paul-George. Meh.

Maybe I should just go and vote for Ringo because he's in last place. I'm having a bit of sympathy for him. Unlike John, Paul, and George, he didn't make it into the list of the 100 best britons of all time.

On the other hand though, he's still far more famous than a lot of artists, so he's still very lucky. He's just not as popular as his three bandmates.

Ringo is cool, I mean come on he was Mr. Conductor for crying out loud, that should give him some props.

I don't get it. Why do people make fun of him? He's great too! Maybe just not the Guy.

Well he currently has the same number of votes as George, so he's getting some respect at least. I'd laugh if he suddenly beat John.

99% of Paul's songs were better than John's, the average Paul song was much better than the average John song, and while the worst John song was so bad as to make my toes curl and my brain beg for death, the worst Paul song merely irritated me. So Paul is the best of those two. Of the rest, George could have won if he'd done more stuff like 'All Things Must Pass' and less stuff like the rest of his solo career, and Ringo is Ringo. So Paul it is.

Actually, another person you guys forgot is William Campbell, better known as the new Paul. :p

I can't really say which is the best, since I haven't really heard their solo works. But I think Ringo needs more props than he has. The drummer is always left out in the cold when it comes to popularity. With the exception of Tommy Lee, of course.

I just did a little experiment in going through the 100 Beatles songs I have in my random playlist which are essentially my favorites, and I marked each song to a certain Beatle based on who I think had the most songwriting and/or singing impact on it (usually the one who sings lead all or most of the time... in the case of covers, especially - tell me John doesn't totally OWN "Twist And Shout").

It just came out John = 46 songs, Paul = 45, George = 6, Ringo = 3. I think when it comes to the early stuff, up to around Rubber Soul, John is definitely my fave, but from Revolver on, I think it's definitely Paul, and since a higher percentage of the latter era is among my favorite music of all time, I think that reaffirms him as my favorite Beatle. Yup.

Beh, count the solo stuff (which everyone else seems to be doing ;)). All that stuff George wanted to put on an album but got pushed off by some random L/McC filler song? Went to solo. As for Ringo he wasn't much on songwriting, but did okay later on IMHO. Something, something, John/Paul leader of band thing...I should really try and catch my bus...

Okay, now Ringo has more votes than George. Did I suddenly generate a lot of sympathy for Ringo or something?

*sob* Why does no one appreciate the greatness that is George?! He's so cool, you don't even know he's cool!

In other news, Ringo and George have cool websites. Yep.

Hey! Those would make great links for the 1001 Ways to Waste Time on the Internet thread!

But anyways, back to George here. I DO appreciate his greatness! I appreciate it very much! He's a Beatle, d***it! I guess I can't speak for everyone else here. If it makes you happy though, I'll go vote for him right now! I hope you remembered to do the same.
