I can handle hot and extra hot cheetos for 10 minutes, then my tounge goes on fire, and cola doesn't help!

why do we enjoy eating spicy foods when they give us unpleasent felings?

I love spicy food (although I have met my match at a Thai food restaraunt down the street).

As for "Why do we like spicy foods that are too hot?" thing. Check this out.

The answer to your question is in the last 2 paragraphs.

I love spicy food! BTW, soda's not best for spicy food. Try cold water or milk.

I can eat most spicey foods, and I'm a lot more tolerant now.

When I was in 3rd and 4th grade, I could not even lick a hot cheeto without having my mouth go on fire. So in 5th grade, two friends of mine had to teach me how to handle spicey foods. At lunch each day, I would have to eat one more hot cheeto than the previous day without any water. When I could eat an entire bag, I could finally handle spicey foods.
Ahh...good times.

Spicey food and myself had a falling out. We haven't really spoken since. Run ins at the mall are usually quite arkward.

Yeah, I have no tolerence for spicey foods. I'm a wimp.

Water isn't great either.

Milk, bread, or cheese.

By spicy food, do you mean real spicy food, or stuff like hot cheetos and things like that.

While those ARE a little warm, they're far from what I would consider hot. Then again, after that sauce the dude gave me at the thai food restaraunt, I don't think I'll ever call ANYTHING hot again.

I am in love with chicken wings- the spicier the better. I down flaming hot Cheetos with no water at all. And I probably do some other third thing, too. Of course, afterwards, I'm breathing kind of funny and my nose is running like crazy, but that's the fun in it! So to you, I say, "Bring it on!"

Ya, it's the fizz. It makes it worse.

I always thought it was because it amkes or bodies release pain killer things or something.

And yes, spicy foods rock. There's this steak house in Alberta that sells this REALLY spicy hot sauce that you have to sign a liability waiver to buy (no kidding) and it's freakin' hot.

I think that spicy food is very yummy. I love it. I often find myself ordering the spiciest stuff in restaurants.
But there are a few foods that can really burninate my mouth. Doesn't happen often, though.:trogdor:

Yes. Spicy things are good. I can tolerate most of them.

One time I was at some craft show type thing, and there was a booth giving away free salsa samples. And of course, like the idiot that I am, I had to look cool and tough by tring the hottest one. It was green. After my eyes were sizzling, i noticed that on the scale thing that had for all the salsas, the one I tried was "Stupid hot." That's me.
Stupid.

Oh, I love spicy food. Just thinking about spicy things makes my mouth tingle. I love 'em. But I can't go too overboard.

I can eat spicy hot cheetos, spicy Mexican food, and hot wings straight out of the oven. I can handle spicy food. Except spicy Chinese food. I don't know why, really.

Have you ever had spicy mustard? That stuff is horrible, it's like eating nail polish.

Yes! Prehaps I shall sig that, even.

Good food thing: Tortilla + some kind of shredded cheese + Taco Bell fire hot sauce = mmmm. Plus microwave.

It's not that bad. I don't think it tastes like nail polish. How do you know what that tastes like? :p Just joking, Sir KISS.

Yes, I always love the challenge of eating those really spicy thai peppers.
Try some thai dragons, that will scorch Your tongue right off.

I'm funny. I love spicy hot food, but I don't like eating peppers by themselves. I just don't like the way they taste (or pretty much any other raw veggie for that matter)

I have got to tell you a funny spicy foods story, and it involves Dormar.

Jan. 4 my friends had a get-together for the Rose Bowl. Dormar and I have a friend who is impervious to spicy foods, no matter how spicy it is he has no reaction to it. Well we were watching the Rose Bowl, we had two containers of salsa, both were mild. My friend spiked one of the salsas with this hot sauce that was labeled "Beyond Hot" with 4 "X" under that. This stuff was hot. It didn't strike you right away, but give it 5 seconds and it hit you like a ton of bricks. Dormar got to the party a little late, I think he had to work, but anyways I tricked him into using the spiked salsa(I told him I double-dipped in the other one.). Dormar dipped his chip in the salsa, ate it and then 5 seconds later we heard this, "TAHHHHHHHHHHH!" Then to make matters worse, Dormar heads to the fridge to grab a can of soda. That only made things worse. He was upset that he had fallen for the trick and told our friend over the phone(he left before Dormar arrived), "I hate you!"

I loathe spicy food. LOATHE it.

Well, okay, I'm a sucker for Hot Spice Ramen.

But I detest everything else. EVERYTHING. ELSE.

It's the fat and some, of the proteins in the milk. Capsaicin is not soluble in water, so it just gets spread around in your mouth making the situation worse (like putting water on a grease fire).
Capsaicin is fat soluble and it binds to a couple of the proteins, so the milk actually takes it away from your tongue.

That's an over-simplification, but, that's pretty much how it works.
