I'm curious as to who does and who don't. Also, please share comments about the "condition" that parents say there kids have just so they don't have to deal with there shenangigans and make 'em shut up with a ritalin pill.

Oh, and I don't have ADD or ADHD either.

Count a vote for "yes". Here's a song I wrote about my "experiences". Note the '5 parts in 45 seconds' arrangement.

Physical Illusion - "The ADD Song"

Good joreb, nice song. That should be on Weird Al's next album.

It takes no physician to tell that some people are less likely to pay attention than others. There is sound evidence that ADHD and ADD exist, it shows a distinctly different brain pattern. And besides that: if a child cannot pay attention, he/she has an attention deficit. And if he/she continues to show less attention than usual for his/her age group, it is a disorder. I agree, though: treatment is far too much pills, and not enough counseling.

Perfect. Exactly what I think. In a nutshell. Parents rely to much on pills to keep their children at bay.

I still have some of my pills. Kids in high school wanted to pay me for them. I didn't sell them, but I was temped.

Well, whenever you're strapped for cash......

Yeah, I have ADD, but I don't take anything for it. Personally, I don't believe in that crap. It's just a way for the companies to get rich and for parents to find an excuse. "It's not our fault that Billy's failing English, he had ADD."

I've got ADHD. I stopped taking the pills because they made me more hyper than I already was.

That can happen when you are taking amphetamine-based medication.

Thanks.

Wikipedia weet alles. Iedereen misschien ook.

ADD... could be me. But not as far as I know.

Nah. I honestly don't think either exist. Seems to me that it's just an excuse for parents who don't think Little Johnny can do any wrong. "He's not stupid and lazy, he has 'problems'!"

...but that's just me. I'm not trying to argue with anyone.

WHAT?! Hey, Tom Cruise, go play amateur neurologist somewhere else.

ADD/ADHD exist, I can tell you that from first hand experiance. I have an IQ of 147(I got the papers to back it up, too), so I am by no means stupid. I am a little bit lazy, but just about everyone I know suffers from laziness. When I was a kid, I could neither sit stil in class or pay attention for very long. It would also take me forever to do my school work, because I couldn't focus on what I needed to do. My mind would drift away and I could never get what I needed to do finished. So my 2nd grade teacher, not my parents, but my teacher told the school board that I should be tested for ADD. So at the school board's request I was tested and I turned out to be ADHD. So is that proof enough for you TEFF?

Hey now, he was just stating his opinion. He has the right to do so. Whether you agree with it or not is a completely different story and debate that can be taken elsewhere. Though I do have to agree with TEF. But like I stated, that's my opinion.

That really bugs me, you know.

Like Jello said, I have ADHD. Yes, I am on medication for it. But it had gotten to be a severe problem.

Now, I don't mean to brag, but I have a very high IQ. It's over 150, and probably between 160 and 180 (the test I took only went up to 150; I got 151) . I admit, I am somewhat lazy, but I'm far from stupid.

And my parents know full well I can do wrong. They're actually pretty strict.

So yes, they do exist. Don't make generalizations if you don't know anything about it.

Well, I do know about, since I apperently have it. The medication did nothing though. The test for it was crap too. I had to sit in front of a computer screen for 22 minutes and push a button whenever it flashed randomly. Dumbest test ever. Any kid would get bored with that after a while.

I stopped taking the medication after 9th grade and I saw no difference. It was all mental. I just never cared about school, that why I wasn't the greatest. You don't need test to conclude that school sucks.

I did. It's called the Gordon Test. It tests concentration ability.

I took Ritalin from age 7 to age 10. When I was 10 I started to have incredible mood swings. I would be calm and happy one moment, then I would suddenly get very angry and violent. So my parents changed my medication to Adderall and I didn't have another problem.

I've never either of those. My mind will wander sometimes, but I really, really doubt that I have any sort of problems.

Something about this post makes me want to agree, although I have no idea what it is.

I kind of agree with Teff. I think it's just people not paying attention, I can't imagine it actually being a disease.

But, I'm no doctor...

I don't have ADD/ADHD, but I have a friend who has it, and he doesn't seem distracted. (Though he Text messages during class ;) )
