OK, I love Metroid as my best friend, but me and Zelda are married (as a figure of speech), I'm sorry Metroid ... *Sheds a tear* |

METROID! I love Metroid, it's definatly my favorite franchise. I don't really have anything against Zelda, I've just never played it. Metroid fans unite. |

Zelda! Although I only own Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time (for the Gamecube); they are incredible. Wind Waker is probably one of my top 3 games of all time. |

I seen Wind Waker one time, but never got it. The only Zelda games I actually ever owned were the Gameboy Color ones, way back in ye olde days. Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, I think. I never owned any Metroid games, but I played them a lot. They're both awesome series. |

There is no competition here. Zelda > Everything else So Zelda. |

Hey... This is the kinda question I can answer only with "I'll cut your legs off for making me choose." Both series have awesome music, awesome gameplay, awesome everything. And they both have that exploration thing going on. But neh. I guess I'll go with Zelda. I like it a little bit more as a whole, although the Metroid games are always simply brilliant. You never know where you may find a secret area. Plus the atmosphere is perfect. I may like Zelda more as a whole, but there is only one Zelda game I'd rank higher than Super Metroid. And that game is Ocarina of Time. |

These are both my most favorite Nintendo series. I can't chose. It's to difficult. Both are incredible in every way. |

Well.....Umm..I've kinda...have never played either of those series. Shall the Tar and feathering begin now, or should I wait for the oil to warm up? |

You have an NES, Link To The Past, and Super Metroid before you. Pick one up and start NOW. Absolutely cruel question. I've been doing more Metroid fan-stuff recently, but I can always sit down with a Zelda game and marvel that I'd ever want to play anything else. Zelda has an ageless, timeless, classless appeal, but Samus is very well fleshed-out for a video game character, and definitely my favorite herione ever. Metroid has intricate, labyrinthine worlds, but Zelda has incredibly vast, varied, and truly epic terrains. Zelda's music is more classical and melodic, the kind that you can sing along with even if there are no words, while Metroid's is more atmospheric and Hollywood-esque, and really manipulative of your emotions--man, the Space Pirate's theme from Metroid Prime is really freaky. Metroid has guns, Zelda has swords. I've know Zelda for longer, but Metroid earned my respect quicker. I didn't play Metroid until I was more of a "gamer," but Zelda won me over when I was still a dilettante. But in the end, I chose Zelda. I the end I know it's Ocarina of Time that I'm taking with me to that desert island, and that clenches it for me. ...But you're still cool with me, Samus. Even if I did write that really, really bad Green Eggs and Ham parody about you and Mother Brain. |

Prime 2 was pretty boring, I never even bothered to finish it. They need to make an original Metroid game. No more Prime series, please stop. Please. |

I know seriously. They make one successful game and within a year there are two spin offs. Sheesh. I didn't even like MP:1 |

I must be weird, because I like MP2. Not as much as the original, which is considered by some to be one of the greatest games ever, but it's still neat. The Light Suit is incredibly cool-looking. But if you're gonna rant about there not being any new sidescrollers in a while, don't rage on Retro, rage on the man who told Retro they had to do the new Metroids in first-person format--AKA, Shigeru Miyamoto. His idea after he stepped into the mess of the original Retro and said, "third-person 3D isn't working out." So, yeah. *points finger* I say, don't freak out about it. For a couple good reasons. 1. You never know about Metroid Dread. Although it was supposedly cancelled, Nintendo also said that there was no DS redesign. So take that denial with a grain of salt, if you will. 2. A series that stays the exact same way forever eventually starts to stagnate. So embrace the differences! Technically, the sidescrollers still outnumber the FPSs. # of sidescrollers: 5. (Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Zero Mission, which was not technically the same game as the original.) FPSs: Three. (Prime, Prime 2, Hunters.) And then there's that... pinball... thing. Fun game, but the concept still gives me the jibblies. 3. It's still got aliens blowing up. And in the end, isn't that what matters? |

it is not the 1st person view that bothers me i actually like that it is just something about it that was not that great as the first... and the light suit is still awsome. |

They are VERY different games. One is a first/third person shooter/scroller (depending on which one). The other is a platformer/RPG/Button basher. It's very hard to compare. |

Sorry. I think I must've misread that. It just seems like all the hate gets directed at the "sidescroller v. 3D thing." I think I need to stop taking so much Internet. |

Tough call, but Zelda. Ocarina and Majora's Mask was what inspired me to throw away my education to video games. I guess that's good, somehow... |

Since I've only played 4 Metroid games and only beat 1, and have beat every Zelda game at least twice, yeah Zelda. |

Teh Zelda. Completely. Metroid has a lack of...oh, I dunno...PERSONALITY. "I'm Samus, and I'm a total hottie...however, I love to shoot stuff and never talk, so I might just be a psychotic retard. You just don't know..." At least Link goes "Hyaaa!" and stuff. |

AgentSeethroo wrote: "I'm Samus, and I'm a total hottie...however, I love to shoot stuff and never talk, so I might just be a psychotic retard. You just don't know..." Not entirely true. She talks/thinks in Zero Mission and Fusion (moreso in the latter). She's actually quite composed and intelligent, with a surprisingly nostalgic streak. She has a very strong sense of morality, and she seems fairly military. (This is also juding by wordless actions in cutscenes from the series and the like.) I'm a Literary Dork. Analyzing characters is what I do. In comparison, Link is a shoddy shell whose character purpose is little to nothing beyond being the avatar of the player. |

At least Link goes "Hyaaa!" and stuff. OK, first of all, welcome back. Second, since when did anyone play games for personality? For me, it was always about gameplay. Personality is really not that important to me, and I've been Meroid-ing for a long time, and once you play it a lot it gets some personality. But the story is always like this: You're on a planet. It blows up. Get some items. Beat a boss. Get some more items. Beat a boss. Get one last item. Beat the last boss. Go back and get all the energy tanks and missle tanks. |

Zelda is a classic video game. The first RPG. Metroid is all, megaman-sidescroller-type stuff. I guess I like RPGs better. |
