The supporters of these two albums have been battling for years over this. TELL WHAT U- Okay, no. I won't do that.

Anyway, I'm going to say Pet Sounds because the songs on that album are actually about actual real world things, while who knows what the heck most of the Sgt. Peppers songs have to do with anything. OMG I HAVE CONTROVERSIAL OPINIONS! PEPSI AND COKE ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME! MACS ARE BETTER! GREEN DAY STINKS!

Rubber Soul. But between those two, Pet Sounds. It has a much more strong sound, and does not have "She's Leaving Home."

Hey, "She's Leaving Home" is one of my favorite tracks on that album!

But seriously, Pet Sounds still PWNs any song on Peppers. I'm just not into the trippy stuff.

Definitely Sgt. Pepper's. It turned rock into an art form, and all 4 Beatles were involved in the creative process. Pet Sounds was all by Brian Wilson.

I voted Sargeant Pepper's but after reading these comments, I might actually listen to Pet sounds.
Don't be angry, it's just the only 'essential' album my dad doesn't own, so I have never heard it. I've also never been a fan of The Beach Boys. And The Beatles are so much better.

With a good reason..... (i.e. the Beach Boys kinda sorta sucked real real bad.)

This is mainly a Brian Wilson album (not really involving anyone else), and it really completely strays from the earlier formula of "Surfing 'n' Girls 'n' Surfing 'n' Hot Rods, and Did We Mention Surfing?"-style stuff. So check it out.

I don't blame you voting for Peppers (it's still an awesome album), but if you haven't heard both of them you might have saved your vote for later.

Don't sue me, but I'm a poser when it comes to the Beatles. I don't have any songs of theirs, yet I say that they rock.

The Beach Boys are okay, but they remind me of my dad's music, which is boring.

So, I'ma be neutral.

OH NO YOU DIDN'T

you my friend have just provoked a stolker explanation post.....
(note these are the interpretations of the stolker and not of anyone else and i havent lisened to any of the beatles recently *gasp!*)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely hearts club band: Basicly an intro song ment to give you a feel for the album. (according to the anthology) it was kinda like when elvis sent his car on "tour" the beatles were tired of touring so they made this album to "touf" for them.

With A little help from my friends:
This song is one of the most straitforward on the album. The singer is feeling kinda lonely and he is saying that his friends help him to feel good.

Lucy in the sky with diomands:
This song is about a fantasy like experience (not LSD influenced) created all by John Lennon and Paul Mccarntey after John's son (jullian) showed him a picture he painted of a classmate of his named lucy.

Getting Better:
This song is about a guy who's life is kinda bad but he beleives it's just gonna get better and better. The middle part sung by John is actually how John felt at the time (kinda references run for your life.)

Fixing A Hole:
This song is about a place Paul owened in scotland (I think) that was run down and one day he was working on it and that's what inspired this song.

She's Leaving home:
(i have a lot to say about this one but i don't feel like typing it but if you want to hear it please feel free to PM me) THis song was inspired by a news story the boys heard.

Being for the benifit of Mr Kite:
This song is basicly an invatation (or an advertisement) to see a show that is being held for the benifit of Mr Kite which is gonna be a circus type show. The lyrics came from a circus poster John saw and later bought.

Within you without you:
This song is basicly george Stating his opinion (he told what he thought) other than that your guess is as good as mine.

When I'm Sixty-four:
This song is about how some people are anxious about growing older and how they fear they will be abandoned. Paul wrote this as a tribute to his father.

Lovely Rita:
THis song is about a guy who falls in love with a meter maid (simple as that.)

Good Morning Good Morning:
I Believe this song is about being upbeat and looking tward the past and you not being able to keep your youth with you (maby not but it seems to sum it up for me)

A Day in the life:
Another song inspired by a newspaper article, that's all

How do these tracks fit together? at first glance they do but think about it. Sgt pepper's Band is supposed to be playing all of these songs so it's supposed to be a preformance of another band. The Beatles definatly didn't see this but that's what makes Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band an Excellent album.

True. And all that plus the innovation and stuff makes me think that this deserves to be called the best album.

But I still like Pet Sounds better.

Stolker, you make a very good point but you seem to have forgotten the "Paul is dead" controversy. Many of the songs were allegedly about his "death". If you don't know about it, go look it up on wikipedia or the popular search engine Google. I would link to it, but I get creeped out REALLY easilly so I don't wanna visit the page again to get the adress.(I am the wimpiest person in the world!)

Linky.

the only reason i didn't mention it was because not only does it span pepper but it spans most other albums (even some before his "death.) and if i were to have discussed that i would have been typing for at least 10 more minutes.

Sgt. Peppers, I've always liked The Beatles stoner stuff. Though I do with "With a Little Help From My Friends" was done better by Joe Cocker.

But over all Rubber Soul is THE best Beatles album. Nowhere Man, I'm Lookign Through You, Drive My Car. A-maz-ing

No, you're a spammer with nothing to contribute.

Sgt. Pepper's beats Pet Sounds hands-down. The Beatles set out to make a fresh new album, while Brian Wilson came into the studio fresh outta his druggy bedroom with a bunch of new stuff.
