Should cell phones be used in school? I strongly disagree with that idea.

I've never had any use for phones at all, therefore it is possible to survive without the use of a cellphone in school. D:

Though I suppose it's usefull if you use it in emergency, like if you missed the bus or got really sick from the cafeteria food and started growing an extra limb out your head... Just keep it turned off during class.

So really, the phone itself isn't bad. It's how you use it. *shrug*

I think they should be allowed to be used in school, just not in class-time.
Our school has this stupid idea of not letting anyone use mobile phones at school, or in the school grounds at any time, not even after school hours. So you can't even call your parents to come and pick you up if you, like, lost your bus fare. Stay-u-pid!

Yes, you should be able to use them. My schools pretty good about phones and mp3 players, I think they try to ignore us if they see anything. How nice of them! Except if our phone rings in class we get like, suspended...

I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed. They shouldn't be allowed to be turned on in class, though.

Tis exactly what I believe. I cannot begin to tell you how many times my Cell phone has come in handy because of one reason or another. But when they ring in the middle of class, that's when they get annoying. Or when someone's right outside the classroom chatting it up when you're trying to take a test.

our school doesn't allow mobile phones at the bus bay, which is 10 metres down the street and isn't even owned by the school! the policy seems to be, "if there's a teacher about, it's a school zone".
i do agree, they should be turned off in class. three or four times a day, you hear a crappy novelty ringtone. in fact, i don't think kids need phones. unless they rely on the bus, or they have a job that requires a lift, they don't need it! take this sample from my sister's magazine:
Quote:
just avoid calling and texting for the plain fact you have heaps of credit to burn!

that's exactly the use of a kid's mobile phone! not to mention the games, MP3 compatitability and other luxuries.

My old high school had banned cell phones, since it was very distracting.

Our school bans cell phones in class. The teachers are supposed to take them, but they are pretty OK when they see it. They just tell them to put it back instead of taking it.

I think it should be fine, as long as it is in silent mode during class times.

My school has allowed cell phones basically since cell phones were invented. I probably wouldn't make it without one (even though I don't have my own).

Can't you use the teacher's telephone?

I agree a lot with what was said above. I think cell phones should be used in school, just not all the time. Like, during lunch or on the bus or something. That's how I use my ipod in school.

The schools have their own phones. If any kid needed to make a call they could. Having cell phones during school would just prove as a distraction. I'm in middle school so I would know.

I agree with the "turn it off during class" thing. In universities and high schools. I think it's silly for elementary kids to take cell phones to school. Why would you need to call anyone other than parents? Bah.

You could call for emergency.

Cell phones are for people who need friends.

Therefore, they're not for me.

However, destroying humanity IS for me. That's like my...ice cream and Reesies.

well, they should be allowed during lunch, recess ( if you have one at your school), and before + after school, but not in the classroom. and that goes for MP3s too.
