A little nonsense now and then is treasured by the wisest men...

I dare you to say that to the legions of people who love "American Pie." :P

I voted for "Let It Be".

Dude.

The most beautiful song ever is The End Of The Tour by TMBG. But I'm probably the only person who thinks that. Sigh.

TMBG are a cool band, but they're not high on the emotional factor.
There I said it.

Naturally. Because when I think of Emo, I certainly don't think of TMBG.

On the list? I'm going to just say Let it Be. OPnly because I never heard any of those songs and that title sounds like it's beautiful.

Not on the list? Red Sky by Thrice. THAT is beautiful.

I'd just like to say that emo is NOT the same thing as emotional. It is SHORT for emotional, but frankly, a lot of emo songs are just whiny, not actually EMOTIONAL. Wanna hear emotional music? Listen to Straylight Run (they're labeled as emo, but they don't really sound like emo to me). Listen to I've Got A Match and The End Of The Tour. Listen to music that actually has REAL emotion, not just the usual whiny "MY GIRLFRIEND BROKE UP WITH ME I'MA CUT MYSELF NOW *cut*" crap that people call "emo".

For me it was a toss-up between Good Riddance and Let it Be. I went with Let it Be.

And I think End of the Tour is beautiful too.

Sometimes it's just the music, sometimes it's just the words, and sometimes they combine to make it even more beautiful.

Anyway, I picked Let It Be, but one of my favorite beautiful songs is Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse. I think I've mentioned it before, but that's one of the songs I'd like to be serenaded to while sitting on a balcony. You know, in a perfectly romantic world. XD

Hanging by a Moment is nothing compared to some of Lifehouse's other songs. Simon, now that's a beautiful Lifehouse song.

What, say it to myself? I like that song! No seriously, I love End of the Tour too, I'm just pointing it out. Some people are a little too obsessed. I'm not one of them. I'm not obsessed with things, I just like them and enjoy them... although I do have 4 different seasons of The Simpsons on DVD.

Yay, I got the reference, too! Because I am also an incredible geek.

Hmmm... you know what's another song that's quite beautiful? Iris. By the Goo Goo Dolls. I really love that song...

They're not high on the angst factor, maybe, but that's the whole point. Amusement, whimsy, lighthearted surrealism...these are all good things and they all score emotionally.

I dunno if "Clocks" is more beautiful than stupefying, topofsm. Seriously.

I voted "Hotel California" by the Doors. I just dunno... it's a pretty awesome song! :)

Whimsy? Lighthearted? Just listen to their songs about death or love gone wrong. How is I've Got A Match lighthearted? How is Why Must I Be Sad? whimsical?

There are so many people here who have only heard Experimental Film and the songs on Flood. Flood, especially, is NOT typical TMBG. So many of their songs deal with death, broken hearts, despair, murder...they're not all happy little songs about Istanbul and nightlights and movies and little men!

Yeah.

Now that the forumers have got me listening to Lemon Demon, I have to say that Geeks in Love is actually a pretty song, despite its silliness. It's been stuck in my head for days, too...

I still think Between You and Me is better, though not as good the songwise, but the lyrics are awesome.
