I remember that before I saw homestar there was this video by TMBG on Cartoon Network with that one purple spot doggie guy that screams a lot. So I knew about them, didn't care, then liked them. Any friend of TBC are a friend of mine, bro!

I didn't know about them, then I heard about them from Homestar, now I own the albums "No!" and "Flood". I accually haven't listend to them for quite a bit of time. |

Before I stumbled upon H*, I knew that they had written the theme from 'Malcolm in the Middle' but that was about it. I still don't like them. Never did. |

I knew who they were, subconsciencely. (sp?) I had heard Istanbul and other songs, and I had seen some songs by them on TV (such as those short song promos they did for Dexter's Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog), but I really didn't know who they were. I really started to get into them from H*R, and found my dad had a copy of Flood in the basement. Now I love them, but Flood is the only album I have. |

What, the Dexter's Lab video? I can't really say why, but that's the promo they ran. Maybe the producers felt the song was appropriate for a japaneese feel or something. |

The correct term is "Japanese Animation" or "Anime". The show's director, Genndy Tartakovsky and producer, Craig McCracken, are both heavily influced and admires of Anime. So they like to put it in thier Animation shows from time to time. Samuri Jack has a heavy influence of action scenes from various Anime films. And Craig just likes to parody it. If you watch Fosters, in the episode "Neighbor Pains", you'll see a blonde haired child with a sstriped shirt. This is a parody of Lucas from Mother 3. |

I listened to "Weird Al radio" on Yahoo music. TMBG came on with "Istanbul (not Constantinople)". They're okay. I don't really think their songs are funny. |

For some reason, Istanbul stayed with me for an obscene amount of time before I listened to Flood. Every so often, I would say "Hmmm. Whatever happened to that Istanbul song? It was awesome,". I suppose some of them could be considered "funny" because their subject matter isn't "normal" for a song, but that doesn't make them "funny." Songs like They'll Need A Crane and Racist Friend are good examples of this. They seem silly, because cranes and "racist friends" aren't what you'd usually associate with songs, but the former is a deeply tragic song about a disintigrating relationship and the latter reflects on the deep disgust and revulsion we have when we encounter things like racism. Some of their songs are actually pretty normal, too. Following an Angel, Damn Good Times, and Another first Kiss all strike me as pretty "normal" songs. And have you ever heard I've Got a Match? Man, that song is just sad. Nothing funny about it. And there's not meant to be. |

I knew they existed before, but I never really listened to them until now. I positively love them, but I let my friend Emily listen to Experimental Film and she thought it was weird. The first thing my dad said is, "These people sound gay." I hate it when people jump to conclusions like that. But I love them. |
