Well, is it? In my opinion, the disco still rocks. And will always. |

*slams on head with disco ball and shines strobe in eyes* *spits [s]apple chunks[/s] regular spit in eyes* That's not cool. Practicly every kind of music decends from Disco. |

Funkstar wrote: *spits [s]apple chunks[/s] regular spit in eyes* Not really, I haven't heard anything that resembles disco in any of the good genre.
That's not cool. Practicly every kind of music decends from Disco. And don't steal my gimmicks that I stole from someone else. *Spits is Funky's face* That's not cool. |

Practicly every kind of music decends from Disco. Metal. Punk. Classical. Post-rock. Etc. Disco is the shame of the music world. And we have the John Travolta Dance because of it. |

Disco. Created by pot-smoking hippies with techno devices. The predecessor to rap. Numa Numa WTF. It's dead. It was never good. |

I'm kinda neutral. I don't really think disco is dead, look at techno, that has alot of disco influences. |

It's dead. It was never good. Oh boy, you sure are the expert in these matters.

Rap originally came from a combination of Funk and R&B. |

No, no, and no. Rap came from Hip-Hop, which was a rival to disco at the time. And pot-smoking hippies? That's not disco... But I agree with you, and everyone else. Disco...um...isn't exactly my kinda music.... |

1. I can't truly verify the pot-smoking hippies, but I'm pretty sure. 2. Predecessor to rap. Rap is just another word for hip-hop. Disco was a bunch of words with crappy music meant to be dance. There are tons of similarities between the two. 3. Techno devices. I guess that got confusing. It's basically techno with a different name, exept made in the 70s. 4. Numa Numa. A not funny song from Romania that is stupid. I definetely am the expert in these matters.

topofsm wrote: 1. I can't truly verify the pot-smoking hippies, but I'm pretty sure. You're absolutely wrong about that. As BTG said, you're thinking about Psychadelic Rock. topofsm wrote: 2. That doesn't mean that disco was the predecessor to hip-hop. Have you listened to them? They're very different. Once again, as BTG said, hip-hop came from Funk and R&B. topofsm wrote: 3. Techno devices. I guess that got confusing. It's basically techno with a different name, exept made in the 70s. Disco has nothing to do with techno. They're different genres. They can sound as similar as you want them to, but they're not the same genre. topofsm wrote: 4. Numa Numa. A not funny song from Romania that is stupid.
The song is Dragostea din Tei. Not Numa Numa. |

Nuh uhhh. Although I am a fan of neither, rap and hip-hop are two completely different things. |

Disco is still alive; it's heavily influenced house & nu-electro music. Daft Punk, Felix da Housecat, Jamiroquai...disco ain't dead. |

Quote: 3. Techno devices. I guess that got confusing. It's basically techno with a different name, exept made in the 70s. Uhm, you're still confusing me. Devices? Do you mean synthesizers? Technically, there was no techno in the 70's. Techno, as a sub-genre of electronic music, started to evolve around the mid-80's or so. Besides, what do you really mean with this "techno"? Electronic music in general? Quote: 4. Numa Numa. A not funny song from Romania that is stupid.
Wow, you sure do hate that song.
EDIT: Got to agree with Ian, though I'm not really a fan of Disco music. I still think it's very underground nowadays. |

I beleive that the Disco is still alive, but when I say alive I mean the kind of alive that you get with, for example, the majority of reality tv: all logic states that it shouldn't, yet science is unable to explain its continued existence. |

Disco is dead, but you can't dis it once it's old. Like, when rap dies out (as all horrible things are destined to do) I won't dis it anymore. |

DISCO IS GOOD. It is. I actually like it. Mainly because it's basically the only type I can dance too. I agree that it's dead. Myrrh...rap is not only bad, it needs to live in the little box sitting outsite my...HOLY SHAZAM THAT'S MY BS SHIRT! Be Right Back... Okay, anyway, yeah. Disco's dead. BUT I LIKE IT. LIKE DANCIN. *dancin* |

For the most part, yes, Disco is pretty much gone. But there is still something left in it's tank, like what Ian said. |

I will.
I can't really tell whether disco is really dead or not, since I'm not a big music guy. I don't think it's completely dead, but it's definitely not at the forefront of the music industry like it was in the 70s. |

The disco culture is dead and lying in a ditch somewhere as it should be. The music is still around as it has clearly influenced modern dance music. It's like a virus lying dormant until it revives itself to kill the host body that is good taste. I kind of dislike disco. -KS |
