There seems to a lot of discussion about this, so let's go at it once and for all.

I, for one, think Lincoln is the best.

Here are the covers of the albums, in order, just so's you don't get confused. Click on them for more info.

(I tried to include only the main albums.)

Well, considering I only have one, I would have to go with The Spine. I do want to get some more though. Any suggestions?

Well, Flood is definitely their most accessible album with a ton of good songs. Lincoln is also a very good album, and so is Factory Showroom. I think those are th-

Well, eeeyeah... I've heard some songs from some of their albums but I have the full John Henry and it's the best of what I've heard. Hands down.

I don't listen to TMBG, so what's a good "starter" album to get? User's Guide?

Yeah, I don't either. In fact, my entire iPod just about consists of the Beatles and Strong Bad sings. And some spongebob albums.Image

Flood is probably the best "starter" album, in my opinion.

There's only one song I don't like on Mink Car, but that's made up for by the album being really dang catchy. If Wicked Little Critta had been left out, it would have been perfect. (Yes, I like Mr. Xcitment. So sue me.) Hovering Sombrero, the title track, and My Man are among my favorite songs of all time.

Ooh! Ooh! I like Flood! And I think it's a great starter album, since it was my starter album.

Uhh... well... actually... I kind of like... the compilations best... like Dial-A-Song... because... they have all the stuff I really like.

I love No! for all of it's interesting children's songs.

Sleepwalkers at the end of the album is my favorite song.

Darn.
I'm stuck between Flood (because of Birdhouse in your Soul, Your Racist Friend, Particle Man and Istanbul), Mink Car (Bangs, Cyclops Rock, Man It's so loud in here (best TMBG song evar), Older and Wicked Little Critta) and Lincoln (Ana Ng, Purple Toupee, I've got a Match and They'll need a Crane).

I'll just go with Mink Car.

I really like Dial-A-Song, too. But it is missing a LOT of the essentials, like "Mr. Me", "Thermostat", "I Blame You", etc.

Hmm. Probably the original album or Lincoln.

John Henry's OK, but it's not their best.

(Where's Venue Songs, though?)

Precicly! OK, so it's not super-fantastic-essential, but it is a lot of fun. There's a song about my city there! City Limits! Wooo!

And am I the only one who finds Trees eeriely reminescent of Majora's Mask?

I think I'll get A User's Guide if/when I start listening to TMBG.

Venue Songs is awesome. If they weren't TMBG, I would be mad at them for not singing a song about the Taste of Chicago... because I was there, man... My favorite ones are Vancover and Los Angeles and the one I'm too lazy to look up ("Gibson Lounge"?), but the studio version of "Taste the Fame" (*cough*Home Movies*cough*) and "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" also make it totally worth it.

But anyway: Lincoln. Yeah. It was my first, I think. And it's the best.

Which reminds me, I'm supposed to get my friend his (very late) birthday present sometime soon. It's that selfsame Venue Songs we're talking about. He was at the City Limits concert, so he absolutely needs it. Now, to see if any of the local record stops have it... or do you have to order that one online? Hmm...

That was my first. It's a good starter album, though there are some songs that should be on there, but aren't (The End Of The Tour, ANYTHING else from John Henry (Meet James Ensor is one of the weaker tracks), Rhythm Section Want Ad), and some that shouldn't be on there (Spider).

Also, more people need to vote for John Henry.

Yes. It is. 29 songs on it. And when I bought it, it cost less than The Spine

I voted for Flood, because the poll didn't have User's Guide, and Flood rules.

Feh. John Henry has 20 tracks, but it cost me 10 bucks. I can listen to the album the whole way through without skipping a track.

Yeesh. I can't do that with ANY of their albums (Flood comes close, but I always seem to skip Minimum Wage). In fact, the only album I can do that with is Pet Sounds.
