Well, I take medication for it. Yet, that's the price I pay for having been anorexic for 3 years.

But it's not as dull as you think.

The type of milk I drink is the type with cookies. You put the cookies in, and leave the cookies there, and drink the milk with the cookie inside it! The ultimate breakfast. And lunch. Plus Dinner.

2% is the way to go Y'all!

Aha. A good friend of mine is lactose intolerant. She breaks out in hives when she has milk or cheese. Sometimes it's funny. (she laughs too. i'm really not that mean)

My parents don't ever buy anything but skim, so yeah, skim.

Fat-free.

1%, 2%, and whole makes me wish that I never drank it. There is a HUGE difference to me.

I hate going over to friends houses and having to drink milk other than fat free.

I never knew how people could tell the difference. It all tasted the same to me.

Side by side, it's pretty easy to tell. Skim milk is a little thinner and more pale in color, instead of a more robust white. It's not as thick, and the taste is lighter.

Well, color is no help to me. I'm color blind, so it all looks the same whiteness to me.

I'm pretty sure I drink whole. I'm gonna have to check on that though.

*goes to check*

Yeah, I was right.

I drink 2% myself, but, with the sole exception of skim milk (never tried soy milk, and I'm lactose-tolerant), they all taste oddly like milk. Skim "milk" is chalk water.

I am not that bad. I just get sick. Milk is generally hard to digest. Most people develop an intolerancy to lactose as they age. I can take medicine so I can have it, but I have to double, sometimes triple, the dosage if I am to actually drink milk. It all depends on how much lactose is in said food.

Moral of the story... don't become anorexic. I got really lucky since I didn't develop thyroid problems or anemia. But, how does that tie in with the lactose intolerancy? I never ate or drank milk products, so my body got maladjusted to it, and weakened (as I said, lactose is hard to digest in the first place).

That's because it's not normal to be lactose tolerant.
Lactose tolerancy is the abnormal condition, not lactose intolerancy. Young mammals have a certain enzyme to digest the lactose in the mother's milk. It's not needed (at least in mammals other than humans) after a certain age. Not cool for people, though.

Very true. It's even been researched whether or not humans really need it after a certain age.

Am I the only person who thinks this is just disgusting? Why would you drink something that has some soggy mushy stuff floating in it? I can't stand cookies and milk.

Naah, I understand ya, Deeg. I hate crumbs or anything floating in my drink. I don't even like pulpy orange juice.

I totally agree with you two. When I drink a liquid, I don't expect there to be stuff floating around in it. Just like Cybernetic there, I don't even like pulpy OJ, much less than pieces of cookie floating around in milk.

Now, I'm all for dunking cookies in milk. But crumbling it up and drinking the pieces with the milk? Nasty.

Especially with what else ends up in milk. If you think about it, they work those cows insanely. Now, those milking machines are left on for a considerable amount of time per day. If you wear in something from overwork, what do you think happens? Blisters that produce pus.

Why do you think they pasteurize milk?

There has been recent controversey regarding whether or not the pasteurization standards are high enough. Diseases such as Crohn's Disease have been known to survive the process, among other things.

Warm cookies fresh out of the oven are the best. Especially home-made cookies. Mmmmmmmm...

most of my friends turned veggie for a while and got into soy stuff. everyone got used to it, but then after a while all our bodies started rejecting it. I dunno.. soy can't be as good for you as people say it is.

Raised on skim, but then after the soy kick I noticed it was watery, tasted chalky and had a faint bluish color. 1%'s absolutely perfect (had grits made with 2% today and it was too thick)
