not the Macs at MY school. but, alas, they're about fifty-billion years old. I'm sure that the newer Macs are better, but I'm still Windows all the way!

EDIT: yay! my first TOTBD!!!!! Is that how I spell it? top of the board dance? I think that sounds right...

Yeah, but they are worth every penny.

Not when you can self-build a comparable PC for much less.

I dunno, it's getting pretty hard to beat a box (HP, Dell, or otherwise). Mostly for, you guessed it, Windows XP.

I am using Mac OS X on an iMac Intel Core Duo.

I used to have a PC, and I have to say; if you have one, throw it in the trash and by a Mac. Now.

I use Windows. Don't particularly like it, but since this is a family computer...

I used to be a Linux penguin, and I loved it to death. Unfortunately, Linux is not compatible with my Pocket PC, my Digital Camera, or Finale (Music Notation software), the first and last of which are absolutely vital and used on a daily basis. So, I had to move back into Windows. (Linux, get your act together! Let me use your wonderfulness again!)

I dunno, I think Linux has that. There's an OpenGL (Awesome 3D effects) screensaver that's out for all three systems. I haven't tried it on a mac, but it worked smooth as glass on my Linux system, but wouldn't run at all on my Windows system, which was installed on a different partition of the same computer. It seems to me, though, that Linux launches programs a lot faster than the Mac OS X computers in the Music building's computer lab.

I have the iBook G4 with Mac OSX. I recommend it to any Windows users.(If you have Windows XP, think that, but better and original, not copied)

What are you talking about? Original? Not Copied?

OSX is based on BSD which is unix. They just made it more "user friendly" for the computer illiterates. It's unoriginal and very copied.

It says so on their own website: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/unix/

I use Windows AND Linux... more specifically, Window$ XP and Debian Etch beta. I use GRUB to boot between the two, which is often. Why just have one operating system when you can have two?

Hillarious.

Why have two when one works just fine?

My lappy is windows XP Pro. Works just fine.

My office machine is a HORRIBLE build of Linux.
CENTOS is the devil.

Because one just doesn't "work fine."

Good answer. :)

I only have Windows here at home because all I do on my computer when I come home is just mess around on the net, maybe play a few games, but that's it.
If I absolutely, positively must do work, I just VPN into the network back in the office and use my machine via puTTY.

Dang, this is an old topic.

Anyway, I use Windows. It's easy to use. Plus, Mac people don't get a lot of computer games and whatnot.

Well, games aren't all that matters. They can play a roll, but it's not all that matters.

I use Windows for most of my work, but occasionally I'll boot into Ubuntu Linux just for kicks. ;)

I want to get a Mac though. Those new Intel ones are seriously fast and can run Windows. Oh, and OSX roxors too. :-D

Seriously, No Loafing, you should have a choice for peole who use two or even three OSes - people do actually do that, you know.

Might be all that matters to Acekirby.

I use Windows, and I have no intention of changing any time soon.

Yeah, I use both Windows and Linux. In fact, I'm in Windows right now because I had to use Flash.

And where the crap is BSD?

You've never edited video on a windows box, have you?

The only thing Windows boxes outdo Macs on are games (mainly because nobody makes games for Macs). Before you say "that's because Macs suck", remember this: There are (perhaps more important) uses for computers than games.

OKay... But I never said that.... And if gaming is more important to me than editing videos, than what you said doesn't matter. What YOU think doesn't mean squat for me, it's about my preferences and I prefer Windows. Why are you trying to argue that. If I don't like Mac, does that really have to mean all that much to you. I just don't like Mac's, and everyone I've been on can't run a program for crap.

Linux/XP dual boot. Linux is the default. I only go into XP for iTunes sometimes and if something absolutely needs XP to work (like a Flash 8 site.. My Linux only has a poorly-programmed Flash 7 plugin). Got Ubuntu Dapper Drake going, and it's working rrrl rrrl well. I've been trying to get Linux working on a compy for almost a decade now, and this is the first time it's actually worked. It works on the lappy too. So Linux is actually almost easy enough for the casual tinkerer. (It still took like a week total out of my life to figure it all out tho)

This is good cuz I don't have to do much. I got my NES and SNES emulators, dosbox, and that's really all I need for games. I don't do amazing video editing, so Kino works fine.

Linux = if you're programming or not doing anything amazing and just like the [s]communist[/s] free software concept, this is for you!
