Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this, how long should a thread not be posted in before it is considered dead and necromancing?

Well, once it's on the second page on a not so busy discussion area, then I'd say it's dead. If Pet peeves is on the second page and the last post was only a day ago, it's not dead, it was just busy recently. But if let's say the Weclome Back thread was on the second page, and it's been at least a month after the last post, then I'd say it's dead. But if you have something to say that is useful and wise, and not something like "I liked it", then go and raise it. It's better than making a new one.

Or not saying anything at all.

I voted 6-9 months. I could make a joke about that in invisible writing, but I won't.

I think it takes 1 month, it clearly must be forgottern by then and therefore dead.

Nevar. Threads neva-die. Their spirit, the message which they convey, lives on. No auto-prune or lack of posts can stop that.

That message spoke to me. :p

I'd say in 4 months they are dead.

I don't think there should be a limit, if you have something new to add to the discussion, there's no harm in reviving an old thread.

I don't think anybody's suggesting a limit, but if we allow for the possibility of necromancy, then we must also allow that threads must "die" at some point or another.

I don't disagree with you on the part where you said it's ok to add something, but only if it's relevant and not spam. If you discove something, then feel free to add it, but if it's just something like reviving the thread for Animal just to say "I like Sterance, lol", then keep it to yourself.

I say 3-6. Unless you can post something relevent, leave it be.

It depends on the thread. If it's something important like the welcoming thread I don't think it would ever die. Most fun polls don't last that long.Just about a month.

If it goes over three months, then I would call it quiet.

And for those important threads like "Welcome Back" and "Friends Made" should become a Sticky. So that way that can't die.

The only exception I would make is if the poster makes a useful comment in the old thread.
