Physiologically speaking, the most thirst-quenching drink is Gatorade, or other sports drinks that have added electrolytes. Something about the electrolytes helping the body absorb more water than it would with just plain ol' water.

Well, technically, if you're sweating, you're loosing more than just water--you're loosing salt, too, and both salt and water are essential to keep your hydrated. If you don't have enough salt you can't "absorb" the water, but if you have too much you can actually dehydrate yourself--so paradoxically, drinking seawater can make you dehydrated. So the point of sports drinks is basically to help you restore both ingredients in your balance without you having to eat something, which is normally how you get the sodium.
