PoZ, because that was when the series started to get plot twists and to get darker, and the anamagus stuff was cool.

OotP, because I really, REALLY love to hate Umbridge. I'm re-reading HBP (fourth time, I think) right now, and I must say it's quite good too.

Oh, for heaven's sake-- THEY'RE ALL PERFECT!

It's hard to remember which is the best, since there was usually a long span in between reading them. I was thinking OotP, but I'm really not sure...

The third one's the best. Dementors, Sirius Black, Buckbeak, time travel, it has it all! It's also the best movie.

I liked the fourth one. With the 3 tasks, and he finally gets to fight Voldemort face to face. And he finds out most of his past.

*ugh*, that was the worst movie. They goofed it up. They made it look like one of those wannabe comedy movies, just happening to be stuck with Harry Potter. The fourth was way better.

I diagree--I think that the 1st and 3rd movies are the best, and the 2nd and 4th were terrible.

As far as the books go, I think probably OotP is the one I like best, with GoF and HBP being close second and third. I remember staying up into the wee hours of the morning when I first read GoF, and crying pretty hard when Cedric died...and of course, crying again when Sirius died in OotP. Oddly enough, though, I didn't cry for the death in HBP...I don't know why. I think I was sort of expecting it.

My favorite's Azkaban. It's the one I've re-read most. I always find the Mauraders so cool!

I never understood why they did that, anyway. What's wrong with the original title?

The Wiki says "Both the book and the motion picture were released in the United States with the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, citing the reason that most Americans in the target age group would not be as interested in something containing the word 'philosopher' as they would 'sorcerer', thus hurting sales."

I think that most people in the US think of a philosopher as a thinker on morality, ethics, and other issues of human nature--people like Socrates and Plato. Now, the actual definition of "philosophy" can include "the critical analysis of fundamental assumptions or beliefs," which is something that can be applied to any field. Hence why you can get a PhD--a Doctor of Philosophy--in almost every field of study. I don't know if British kids know "philosophy" in this context more inherently than American kids do, but I know that most Americans probably wouldn't make an immediate connection between Philosophy and Wizardry.

That's a shame. I think they should have changed the title completely if they were gonna change it at all. That way they wouldn't have to have changed the actual text of the story to fit it.

Grah! Don't make me choose!

I like them all for their own reasons.

The first one is good because it was a new and creative idea and was an enjoyable experience.

The second was also good because it was actually a good sequel(which are hard to find these days in the media) that delved deeper into the Potter storyline and other things.

The third for all reasons above - it takes a somewhat darker path but still manages to have all the charm that the series has. Plus, one of my favorite characters(Remus Lupin) was introduced in the book, along with another favorite(Sirius Black).

The fourth showed how the Hogwarts kids were maturing more and more. It was also very eventful, with the Tri-Wizard Cup and the things happening near the end of it. It also delved much deeper.

The fifth put Harry and his friends through the challenges of schoolwork all while moving along the great plot in it and putting in many suprises. It also shows how the Hogwarts students take action, which I liked. All of it is worth it right up until the end where that shock happens - and then it's even more worth it.

And the sixth is great. It shows another level of maturity of the students and delved far, FAR into the storyline. The ending parts might've been the best, seeing as they all fit together to make one huge speculation until the very end where we're still not sure what exactly is going on.

And the seventh will probably be as good as the rest.

There's my six cents on this subject.

(Movie wise, I liked the first one. A lot. It Stuck to the book, whereas the future installments drift farther from it.)

Order of the Phoenix. That one rocks the socks.

Tbh, the newest one is the only bad one. Uneven, little actual storyline - everything is backstory that I guess she couldn't fit into the previous books.

Spoilers.

She didn't put them into the earlier books because it wasn't the right time. Why would Dumbledore tell Harry, a new kid at Hogwarts, all the details of the past of Voldemort? And there was a lot of plot involved. Most of it WAS the plot.

About Order for a sec here. I didn't really like that one too much. Harry was way too much of a jerk. I know it was supposed to be him getting older and more emotional and everything, but still.

Also, I cried when Sirius died. But not Dumbledore, for some reason.

I cried like a baby at BOTH of them. I'm lame.

As depressing as it is, I also cried at both, though not very much though...

Yeah, I like Half Blood Prince the best, followed by The Goblet of Fire.
