So, when people type "lol", I want to know how many people actually laugh out loud. Like "a, HA HA HA!!!" I think most people just chuckle or say "heh" instead of truly laughing out loud.

I don't even type "lol", if something truly makes me laugh, I will actually type LOL or something. If something makes me chuckle, I say "heh".

Roffle is funny to say. It can be used outside of the internet. But LOL, not as much.

"Heh" is for when I'm feigning interest in what the person said. "Hehe" is for the mildest inside chuckle. "Heehee" is when I'm a bit more amused. "LOL" I use when I actually vocalise a tiny bit of what I'm feelin' on the inside. "LMAO!" is reserved for when I actually laugh audibly. 'Tis my system, and I stick by it.

I caught myself almost saying "I ellowelled" once today... (the cops are outside shouting: put your hands in the air and walk away from the computer!)

I didn't read the question right and answered wrong. It would be nice if you could change votes on these things... To me, LOL is for an actual LOL and lol is like a hehehe. And I usually just say hehe or something.

I've been using emoticons more often (I always have on forums, starting to do more-so on messengers) When I do, or did say it, it was literaly more of a chuckle than an actual laugh, for the most part.

I don't use LOL at all. For almost all amusement, I use XD. When I actually laugh, I type a full LMAO!

But when I mean it, I usually "heh".

Usually nothing, but occasional chuckle. I don't really laugh at all, when I'm on the computer, unless something hysterically funny has happened.

I'm kinda like Inverse Tiger. I use lol for a chuckle or light laugh, and LOL is a bit closer to ROFL, which I reserve for the funniest things...Though you can add it with a bunch of other crap to make it seem like you're really laughing.

I only type the word when I totally can't think of something more appropriate. So I almost never say "lol" because I reserve it for actual laughing out loud, and then only sparingly.

I only type/say "LOL!" when I'm kidding or trying to be so 1337 it's rediculous.

I usually type/say "Heh". I'll type "Roffle", too.

Well... I always go around hehing. It's as easy to use as "lol", but it just seems more...acceptable, if you know what I mean. Actually, I say "heh" even when something actually makes me laugh out loud.

I never say LOL.

However, when I say Roffle, I'm usually not actually roffling, but chuckling a little bit. Occasionally I'll REALLY laugh out loud, but it never lasts more than a second or ten before I stop.

Now for a more considered response than earlier:

I don't use lol or roffle or none of them on the forum. Mostly because I only post things when I really want to say something. And I feel a little silly making a whole post to say "ur funny and I laffed." Even when I think the person is really funny and I laughed. Feels spammy.

Over IM, I am slightly more inclined to go heh or whatever, but not often. Usually when I'm IMing people and we're being funny, we're trying to keep the conversation going. Like improv, but you can't tell that it took me a while to come up with the next line, and you can't tell that I'm chuckling at all the jokes. I can pretend that I'm coming up with all this stuff deadpan. So I don't use lol much on those occasions, either.

I do a "heh" kinda thing. lol is too overused, so I use it sparingly.

The only time I'll ever use LOL (or lol, or Ell O Frickin' Ell) is when something has actually made me laugh out loud. Like a big laugh. Like that horribly annoying cackle that everyone hates.

But I'm not one to laugh much when I'm alone. I might giggle a little, but it takes a lot to make me laugh at TV, movies or books when I'm by myself. If I'm with someone else, though, I'm more apt to laugh big time.

Oh dear. Many of you would absolutely hate talking to me on AIM. I use lol all the time.

Here's an example of something I took out of my Trillian history with one of my best friends.

Note: I removed her screen name, but I kept mine, because I am open to talk to anyone. Although, after seeing this, you probably won't want to.
