I wouldn't actually ever say it. I'm in the closet as a nerd. If people ever found out... TEH HORROR!

Wow, I thought I was the only one who pronounced it the way I did, but Piano Man and Magna Carta pronounce it basically the way I do.

I pronounce it the way it's spelled, pretty much making it pwinned, but I make the 'i' sound as inaudible as possible, making it sound literally like "pwned".

I sound like a motorboat. XD

<insidejoke> Pwt pwns!</insidejoke>

Well, I pronounce it...
Pwned.
Ya, I don't need any of your "piwned" or "pawned" or "phorgned" crap. I say "pwned" when I mean "pwned". It's not hard at all.

I say it like how they said in TGS (pawned). I barely ever say it though, I hate how tht word feels in my mouth.

I have a number of words like that, but they're stuff like "Grunt" and "moan" and other weird gutteral words.

I always say "powned". Basically just "owned" with a "p" at the beginning.

Me too, mainly just because I've heard other people pronounce it that way.

I usually pronounce it "pawned", because that's what I originally thought it stood for. However much I am into the Internet, I never was interested in chatrooms.

I actually didn't pick it p in chat rooms, but rather on blogs. Gamer blogs. And since gamers probably originated the term, they have a noted interest in its propigation.

I had a revelation today while doing dishes. If I pronounce h4x0r as "hack-sor" even though purists insist that it's pronounced "hacker", but I pronounced pwned as "owned" just because that's "how it was originally meant to be pronounced".. that's a bit hypocritical. So now I change my vote to.. something else. Probably powned. Because I'm NOT gonna stop saying hack-sor. :p

If I had to choose one of the options in your poll, I'd choose "Powned". Although, that's not how I pronounce it exactly. It's more like, "poned", or something along those lines.

As for spelling, it'll always be "PWNed" in my dictionary. That or "PWN'd". Why the capitalizations? Because if portrays EMPHASIS people! Get in the game!

I actually know of an RPG will a spell/ability called "H4x0r." No, seriously, that's what it's called. It gives your opponents viruses.

I say "hacksor" too. XD

Nah, they just complained about the mispronouncing of that one word is all. Though, if I did say more than just "pwned" and "owned" for gamer slang, it'd be kind of odd if they corrected me.

definetly Powned.
because its a misspelling of Owned.
so adding the P just seems to work.

I actually do think the whole PWN thing was started by a typo. XD

Notice that the P key is right next to the O key.......

I think that too, that's normally how trends start.
For example:

!!!!!!111
and
teh

How else do you think they got about.

La. So Einoo is right. A+. XD

my friend always said it came from Counter-Strike.
they'd kill someone and quickly type "Owned!" but would instead hit the P key instead of O.

I'm going with Wikipedia, because in that one it seems the game was programmed wrong with a typo. XD

Anywho, Image
